August 11, 201016 yr Where's Nolan Ryan when you need him lol. Was it Robin Ventura that he pounded some knots on?
August 11, 201016 yr I loved the MLB Network take on this. http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=10843105&topic_id=7417714&c_id=stl

August 11, 201016 yr Reds win today! Win this and were up 1 game in the division. Get an off day to regroup then take it to Josh Johnson. Im very confident we pull this one out, expect a big game from Philips.
August 11, 201016 yr I love Brandon's passion, probably need more of it from others on that team, but you have to be able to back it up if you're going to smack talk the Cardinals. The Cardinals slapped the Reds these first two games, there's no getting around it. I think it was an obvious showing of pressure and inexperience in a divisional race by the Reds. The pushing and shoving match makes for great TV but gets you nothiing in the end when you get your rear handed to you in a loss. So Reds, if you're gonna talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk.
August 11, 201016 yr Not raise your metal cleats up and start kicking. He clearly ran there looking to get into it and then he gets pushed up and is "scared"... Carp was pushed up against the fence and he wasn't kicking. He didn't have the opportunity to either. He was pinned much tighter and couldn't get his legs up even if he wanted too. I like Carpenter's intensity and he's a great ball player, but after his antics Monday night, I don't think that he has much room to ever talk about someone's professionalism.

August 11, 201016 yr After letting it all digest a little and watching it a few more times this morning, I really think that Molina and BP are both equally to blame. They should be punishes the same in my opinion. But the other point I want to make (and obviously I don't know what was said) but it sure looked like in the beginning Dusty was doing his best to keep his players from doing anything to dumb and his focus was on them. Then LaRussa comes over and starts jawwing at Dusty, followed by whatever Carpenter said. I think LaRussa and Carpenter should get quite a bit of blame for dropping some dynamite in the already lit fire. I never had a lot of respect for LaRussa, but I really don't after watching this. Lastly, Cueto...well he'll probably get the worst of the suspensions. If only Adam Dunn were still here. He would have killed someone last night.
August 11, 201016 yr I have no problem with any of it. Not Phillips words, Molina's anger, Cueto kicking, nothing. Its part of life. FWIW, I was there on the first base side and Cueto was the very last person out of the Reds dugout. He certaintly wasn't looking to fight anyone.
August 11, 201016 yr Phillips is dumb. It was his fault the fight broke out. If you hate a team leave it at that. You don't say good luck or pat them on the back or anything. Good for Molina to stick up to him and not back down. I must admit that I do enjoy seeing these tensions during a pennant race makes it Ben more exciting as it builds drama to the story.
August 11, 201016 yr Since when have their been rules in a brawl? Carpenter needs to be thanking his lucky stars that Rolen didn't get ahold of him. The bullpen that gets the brawl last usually has to pay for it in Kangaroo Court. That's why you see them sprint in from the outfield. Not a written rule, but a rule.

I have no problem with Molina's reaction, nor do I have a problem with Phillips doing his daily routine. I think the whole fiasco only proves Phillips' comments to be true though.

August 11, 201016 yr Was it the ESPN story that stated that Larussa wasn't happy with Phillips and then went to tell Walt Jockety about it. So Larussa is upset for being called a whiner and then goes to whine to dear ole Walt about it.
