July 14, 201016 yr That's crap. African Americans voted for Obama at an alarmingly high rate because he was black-period. Obama went to Rev. Wright's church for years and never once spoke out against him or his speeches until he was politically forced to. The tea party doesn't have anything to do with race. If male whites vote for a candidate because they are white that is as wrong as all the blacks voting for Obama. Just shows complete ignorance. The tea party is scaring the daylights out of the Democrats. The Republicans are trying to bring them into the elephant tent, and I hope the Tea Partiers resist that, as it defeats the purpose. I think this has been discused before and I'm trying to go off memory. I think Al Gore got 95% and John Kerry got 93% of the black vote during their presidential elections. So does that mean that blacks voted for both of them because they were white? Also since my oldest son voted for John McCain does that mean he should turn in his membership card because he didn't vote for Obama? I think Obama only got 90% of the black vote.

Workers papered over the sign in downtown Mason City at the request of the North Iowa Tea Party. North Iowa Tea Party co-founder Bob Johnson said he and other leaders agreed with critics that the image of Obama between Hitler and Lenin was offensive. He said the images overwhelmed the intended message of anti-socialism. "They are absolutely right in their criticism because the image of Hitler just totally wiped everything else and it misrepresents the tea party movement," Johnson said. July 15, 201016 yr (CNN) - A controversial Mason City, Iowa billboard that featured President Barack Obama next to images of Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Lenin was papered over Wednesday, according to a report by the Mason City Globe Gazette. The billboard went up last week, the local newspaper reported, and was ordered and paid for by the North Iowa Tea Party. The billboard showed Obama underneath the label "Democrat Socialism," Hitler under the label "National Socialism," and Lenin under the label "Marxist Socialism." The word "change," one of Obama's trademark slogans from his White House run, appeared beneath each of the images. And the phrase "Radical Leaders Prey on the Fearful & the Naïve" was written across the bottom of the billboard. July 15, 201016 yr Blacks do always vote heavily Democrat. They did seem to go a bit heavier for Obama but I don't think that differs that much from the others. Not enough to matter anyway. Good point. The black vote (according to the stats posted) appears to run around 80-90% Democrat. It would seem logical that Obama got a slight spike in black votes considering he was the first viable African-American on the ticket. There was also a large turnout of younger people in 2008, and many of those would have had to be African-Americans who voted for Obama. I would expect a more "normal" black vote for Obama in 2012, something like 87-91%.
