I understand and get all those things. What I'm saying is that for us to ever truly achieve equality amongst races and other minorities we have to do away with those organizations, because as much as they may be intended to help, they only serve as another roadblock.

There are certain people in any organization that rises to prominence who gain power. They're not going to give that up easily. That applies across the board as well...the issue that made them relevant needs to remain an issue to keep them relevant.

The point of organizations like NAACP, Fairness.org, NWO, etc isn't to fight for exclusive rights, but to be afforded the inclusive rights of ALL Americans that have been/are denied some because of their differences (gender, race, sexual orientation). All of these organizations protect the interests of all Americans, by ensuring that minority demographics are fairly included. Historically speaking, white males are the only American demographic to never have had their Constitutional rights denied them collectively.

Well, considering that people of color have historically been the victims of repression in this country, and I still don't see whites fighting for their basic constitutional rights, I can't think that such an organization would exist for any purpose other than racism.

I think the point is that was then this is now. What does it matter if what rights were denied who 50, 60, even 100 years ago. If everyone is equal then shouldn't there be a level playing field when it comes to getting a job? Applying for finacial aid? College?

Personally, as a female, I don't see that the fight is over. WASP males have been forced to begrudgingly allow minorities their rights. The organizations are needed to to ensure that someone is wathcing and vigiant in that the rights are in fact afforded. The fact of the matter is that in determining who gets hired, gets financial aid, gets into college can STILL be subjective. There is still a need for these organizations, if for nothing more than to make it darned uncomfortable if there's a hint of bias.

 

And no, I don't think that everyone is considered equal these days, any more than 50, 60 or 100 years ago. Those in power still wield it mightily, but maybe more subtly than in the past.
