You aren't the one deciding who gets paid what in the same organization. You aren't the one who's deciding whether a person's job worth is more or less because of their gender, age, race, etc. You're either very fortunate to not have experienced bias in your young life, or very blind to what is going on around you every day. July 16, 201016 yr I disagree. The young adult generation (21-35) is the generation that is very much the "torch-bearers" in the business world. Your generation is one step out the door. All the managers where I work, especially the ones in charge of hiring, are from my generation, not yours. My dad (53), has a boss that is my age. His boss's boss is 30. My roommates boss is 3 years older than I am. The person in charge of his department is in his early 30's. All of these people work for VERY well known giant companies and corporations in the business world. In the business world, many people, especially those in charge of hiring, are younger, because they can connect much better with the people they're hiring. "Giant companies" don't exist everywhere; most small towns have small companies, many of them run by small-time people with similarly small-time ideals — in many cases people who long for "simpler times" like the '50s, when blacks, women, homosexuals and other non-WASPs "knew their place." I would expect someplace in Cincinnati/NoKy would have to be a bit more liberal with their hiring in order to survive. That's not always a necessity outside of urban areas which tend to be a bit more enlightened when it comes to race issues. Again, get outside of your comfort zone a bit and get out into the sticks, because I think you're very naive about what goes on in small town America.

The New Black Panther Party, Ku Klux Klan, Skin Heads and other groups like that are all old and they have to use hoverounds to get around. I can sleep easy tonight knowing that when us old heads die out racism will be completely wiped out in this country.

I totally agree, to think the younger generation ignores race is naive to say the least.
July 16, 201016 yr Someone needs to inform the NAACP of that then.... Dont be Obtuse . I said general usuage . The use of the term in the Organization's name is traditional since it was founded in 1909 , and is probably one of the only remaining places where it is used .

Our generation judges people by their merits and qualifications, not race. I agree with your first statement. However, I think we are generations away from your second statement. We may be slowly moving in that direction but it's a long way away.

(black guy) You tell me what is right about this picture? Could be a lot of things right about the picture. Could be a lot of things wrong about it. Could be racism. Could be dozens of other reasons. You can't simply write it off as denying rights based on the limited data you provided.
July 16, 201016 yr A few random thoughts regarding the problem with Tea Partiers: They actually believe that the American government is intented to protect us, not to provide for us. They actually believe that politicians and government are meant to serve the citizens... not in the enslavement of citizens in the form of overly punitive taxation to the government. They believe that the role of government is to assure Equal Opportunity... not Equal Outcomes. They are completely misunderstood by the media and the politicians currently in power. (How could anyone be so stupid as to disagree with all the GOOD things we are TRYING to DO TO this country? Who doesn't want FREE health care? Who could be so stingy as to fight against FREE programs for the down and out? Who could be against embacing as many poor souls from neighboring nations that want to live here? ) They actually believe that it is a great privilege to be an American... that the goal and honor should be the assimilation into our society... NOT the perpetual hyphenation and divisions that lead to greater separations among our people. No matter how hard the media tries to paint them as ignorant, narrow-minded, racist bigot, anti-progressive, homophobes, their numbers keep growing. They actually believe that politicians are out of control, spending beyond our means, depleting our future and security and sovreignty. They are weary of the growing stream of politicians willing to prostitute themselves and too willing to spend our money to keep their cushy jobs and grasp on power. They don't understand that the best way for our country to get out of debt is to keep spending more and more money we don't have. (Why worry about tomorrow when we have such important things to do today?) (I mean, afterall, isn't that how you handle your personal debt?) They are a huge threat to the agenda of the powers that be and their willing pawns in the media. The fact that they have no central offfice or organizational head that may be attacked and defeated. I'm sure someone could word things better, and may add or subtract key points... but this thread validates just how miserably the genuine intents of the Tea Party have been distorted and smeared.
