"That's just a waste of money, time, resources and it's not going to further our cause," said Shelby Blakely, a leaders of the Tea Party Patriots, a national group. "It's not going to help our cause. It's going to make people think that the tea party is full of a bunch of right-wing fringe people, and that's not true." Blakely also expressed outrage at linking Obama to Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany who oversaw the killing of 6 million Jews and whose invasions of neighboring countries led to World War II. I would say that these quotes from the article pretty much debunk that this represents the veiw of most in the tea party.

I suppose if silence is all that comes from the other members of the North Iowa group in question, it would be fair to call it tacit approval of their leader's methods. The whole problem with the Tea Party movement is that when these outrageous things come out of its members (violence, death threats, racist remarks, etc.), there is rarely anything more than a lukewarm dismissal from fellow members. That, to me, speaks volumes.

The article talks about 2 people from OTHER groups who disagree with it. One National and one from Iowa. I saw no quotes from the Northern Iowa Tea Party people distancing themselve from it.

Generalizing an entire organization based off of how one small group of it may feel, we have no evidence that the entire NITP feels that way, is insane.

The problem is that this is not an isolated incident. Stuff like this has gone on all across the country. And yes, I did indeed read the article. No quote there from anyone in the North Iowa group. As I said, how that group's members react to their leader's actions will say a lot.

Refresh my memory Jim... do you apply the same standard to "peaceful Muslims" who remain silent in the face of jihad, all the while asserting (softly behind the scenes) that Islam really is a religion of peace? Not trying to stir the pot... just seeking clarity.
