TMZ Reporting NCAA Investigation in UK

Featured Replies

Not shocked at all.

Kentucky will be in trouble before long with this coach.

The nation knows how this will play out.

But this has NOTHING tho do with the coach! It's about scum agents thinking only about $$$ for themselves getting with these players even before they step foot on to a college campus. As I said with the Mayo case, colleges/ teams and coaches shouldn't suffer for something they never knew about!

U. Mass, Memphis now these allegations. Things that make you go, hmmm.

How much of this is just a symptom of a broken system? You can treat the symptom by treating it (vacated wins) but it really doesn't address the root cause of the issue. Who do the agents flock to? The Top 10 recruits. Who does Cal recruit? Top 10 recruits. Mayo, Maggette, Gallon, Webber and a slew of others have been involved in scandals, all were top recruits in their respective classes. It's not just a problem with Kentucky or with Cal, it happens all over, all the time. But simply because Cal has success in landing these guys, the NCAA uses a high-powered microscope on him.

They know. The coaches know who these boys are talking to and who they have talked to. If they don't know, they need to do a better job of policing these boys.

You mean they need to be better at being omnipresent from grade 5 on with these guys?

So..........the coaches know what's going on, right? Assuming they do, they should get fired, right? What about the AD's? Shouldn't they know what all of their coaches are doing, and all the activities their coaches are involved in? Why not fire the AD's as well? Going on the same assumption, should't the president of the university know everything that's going on in the athletic dept.? If you are going to hold coaches accountable, why not hold everyone accountable above the coach?

They should all be held accountable. Period. There are rules to follow and if you skirt the rules on a consistent basis, then yes you should be fired and the guy that hired you should be fired. Simple process to me. At most places of employment....first offense-verbal warning, second offense-written reprimand/possible suspension/probation, third offense-termination.

You telling me that these powerful college coaches don't know who and what their athletes are doing outside of games and practices or are you just excusing them for purposely looking the other way when they have a general idea if their "student athletes" are engaging in conduct that they know would jeopardize their eligibility and the school's integrity?

The former.

There is NO way that you can watch every kid 24/7 that you are recruiting, even if you have them signed and on campus, youy cannot possibly watch someone 24/7.

You telling me that these powerful college coaches don't know who and what their athletes are doing outside of games and practices ?

Before they are ever recruited or even know who they are? Of course they don't.

You really think that a coach and/or school should be held responsible if they sign a player who made a deal with an agent and they didn't know about it? Coaches don't even know who most of these kids are before they hit their junior year. It's just silly.

No, but I would say about the eighth grade for a phenom. Then, when a kid plays in three different states (OJ Mayo) for high school ball-that should raise some red flags. It certainly did for high school coaches, or are we to believe the college coaches aren't as intelligent as the high school coaches? You are making it too complicated. The high caliber kids love the attention and the extra's, and the best coaches know how to make it happen (see Reggie Bush, USC, and Coach Carroll). Then the coach flees and the institution is the place that gets in trouble.

UK is not being investigated...

So the report was false ?

So the report was false ?

For the most part yes. It was written in a very vague fashion as to leave a lot open for interpretation...
