Isn't it really just one poster that "hates" on Ryle?

 

I don't hate Ryle. I just think Simon Kenton is the better team.

Sometimes people on the outside don't want to admit when the opponent is doing things right, and Ryle is doing a lot of things right. 1. Working hard in the weight room in the off season. 2. Upgrading coaching staff 3. Raising money to upgrade facilities 4. Hall of Fame Night and Sportsfest Night to celebrate their programs.

 

Question on #3. When you say raising money to upgrade facilities, would you consider a very large donation by one individual a success in fund raising efforts? I was once told that one person donated pretty close to 90% of the funds for the new field turf. Now that could just be someone blowing smoke, but if every Boone County high school had someone affiliated with their program that generous with their money, they would all be able to upgrade to that status.

On a football note: Ryle is doing great things and has some very good talent this year. I have seen Elliot, Hemple, and a few other Raiders several times this year at various college camps. I can't say the same for other local area programs. They are working to get better and it should pay off with a very good season.

I guess it just seems that they get a lot of negative comments here. People that I talk to in NKY think that Ryle has a lot of potential. It seems that I found out more about them here, in short order, then I read on here about them normally.

 

Fair enough. I disagreed with some of their fans about Elliott being one of the best backs in the state last year as a sophomore. But that disagreement shouldn't be construed as dislike (and for the record, the kid is a stud and will be a heck of a RB. I just didn't think he belonged in that category last year. Looks like he may belong in that category this year with another year under his pads). Heck, I disagreed with a certain poster as to who would win the Ashland district last year, but that wasn't because I disliked the poster or Ashland. Most of the "negative" comments are just disagreements as to expectations, quality of players and the like. There may be a poster or two from a rival school that are truly negative, but I think those posters are in the small minority.

Ryle's field was paid for completely by private funds.

 

The Alexander's generosity did not cover the entire cost , thus , tax dollars were going to have to be used. The school board correctly decided that wasn't a good idea.

To answer the question, I agree with the posters above that Ryle is not hated. If we were to list most hated schools in N. Ky. they would be pretty far down the list.

Ram, I don't think Ryle is so much hated as they are simply not taken too seriously. This is probably due to the lack of so called big wins. Ryle is a relatively new school and program compared to many others, and does not have a long winning tradition yet. As an official who has worked seveal Ryle games over the years, I can say that Ryle is a pretty good football school that needs to keep building on the successes they do have, and nail down some big wins. Schools like Ryle can halp the whole state of Kentucky by building parity in football around the state. It takes time, good facilities, coaching, community support, and player development. Ryle has most of that already. Here's to Ryle, and other schools on the verge of being perennial contenders, thus improving high school football all around the commonwealth.

Nice post and very true although I might disagree with the not being taken seriously part. You don't take Elliott, Hempel and Co. seriously and you'll get beat.

I have friends in Northern Kentucky and they all say people are just scared of Ryle. Now some of you will say that you fear no one, and I don't mean that you fear getting beat, I mean they are scared because they all feel that Ryle will be one, if not the, best Northern Kentucky teams soon. Hated? I don't know. But there is a lot of eyes on them.

Some NKY teams might be scared of Ryle. They have a lot of potential. and when you really look at it, Ryle's been one of the better NKY teams for a while, they just haven't ever gotten over the hump and been THE best.
