Next Campbell County Coach

Featured Replies

Tom Dilts has done a very nice job at Dayton the last few years. In addition, he has held the kids accountable.

As for Bradshaw, he is the first and only coach I have ever seen wear an earring while coaching a high school game.

His overall record is very less then stellar.

To all CC Parents, Which have a son or daughter involved in any sport.Get out while you can this has been going on for how long? They just don't get it there. Wrestling program has always been good other than that what a few good seasons in other sports. No one there understands what it takes to become a winner and stay a winner. The attitude needs to change that we will no longer accept being second best. It starts early yes they have feeder programs some of them are run horribly. yes I do know I seen it first hand. It starts at the top new coaches do nothing the attitude there is horrible no one has a clue. Get out while you can it will not change beleive me. There has been some great athletes go through there where has it got them? Any state champions,Any rings?

I was trying to be nice.

Always room for improvement. Peaches and I have ear rings. We try to coach while watching ESPN

I have waited a little while to respond to this one. I'm still in disbelief. Why would Campbell Co release a coach with 3 consecutive winning seasons and 0 losing seasons? Does not make sense to me. I have been around hoops for a while and don't think Campbell Co basketball has played this type of schedule with this type of success for a long time.

I know Scott Code and think he is a good young head coach. He will rebound from this and find a situation where his efforts are appreciated. I'm just sorry he had to go through this mess, he deserves better.

I'm not sure of Mr Strong's move here. If all Campbell Co coaches were evaluated with the same standard or criteria it seems to me they would be going through a bunch of coaches. In order to make a move like this you would think he has a replacement all sewn up before he would ever pull the trigger. But I have not heard that is the case. I just can't help but think this is a huge step backward for the boys basketball program.

I am still very confused by this one.

Will they get an AD before they get a coach? Good points Stumpy

So much for staying on topic, Since we are in need of a coach now, I would like to see Russell take the job.

I don't want to start a fight, but I think Aric Russell would be a bad hire for Campbell. I know he's an alum, but I'm not sold on his coaching abilities, nor does he command any discipline from his players. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've watched him coach since he got the Newport job and have never been impressed with him.

He won the 9th Region last year. What was not to like?

Completely agree with Macla. I don"t think Aric Russell would be a good fit. Campbell's next coach needs to stress discipline and light a fire under the players. There are quite a few names I would recommend. Carr, Sullivan, Faust, Dawn, come to mind right away. Unfortunately for CCHS, none of these coaches would have any interest at all. Does Eric Goetz have any interest? I know he has applied for a few jobs over the last few years.

If the administration didn't like Codes style they would not like Goetz style either. The way Holy Cross has played the past couple of years would make Codes offensive style look like the old Showtime Lakers!

I heard last night that CC already offered Aric Russell the job and he wants to take it....sticking point is that he wants his tenure and CC doesn't want to give it.

Probably true on the tenure point but he probably also wants full control and they are probably not going to give that to him. As far as the discipline point from a few post back, not sure where that is coming from. Examples? I will give you my take. I have been coached by Aric many years ago and thought he was an excellent motivator and great coach. Yes, he is a buddy to his players which can sometimes seem that he is more of a friend than a coach and teacher but this probably stims from his background. He is what CCHS needs if they are willing to meet his requirements. That school is in no position to be sticklers about tenure or control. Their decisions have put them on the hot seat and they need to do something to save face. Aric may be the answer. Everybody has the right to their own opinion about him of course.

Not sure where the fire lit comment is coming from. Last year, the Camels overachieved compared to preseason expectations. Those young men played tough every game for Coach Code (in part due to his coaching). Also, there are no discipline issues either. Stop bashing these young men who are confused as to why their coach is gone.

The Camel cupboard is far from bare. The next coach is walking in to a pretty good situation from a talent perspective. You can argue the other pieces of the job.
