Or a short straw, long straw type thing??

I'd have to think this is true, as he seemed the logical candidate all along (especially if Carr turned them down as some have reported), assuming Aric was interested in continuing coaching? If this hire is true, I'd be a little concerned that he seemed to take a while to get into the fold, given his ties to the program (a CC grad, prior Head HS experience, teaching opening in his field, etc.) Makes an observer wonder if they tried several other avenues, but were denied, or if he was just reluctant--Either way not optimal for the program? Hoping for the CC kids this proves to be true, as they deserve an ending to this debacle!!

Or the 2nd choice never applied??????

Why would you think Russell took time to get his name in the hat. There is no public posting of who applies, or when they apply. I think it has been established that Carr was not offered the job. It's my understanding that Aric has been involved from the beginning.

How was that established? How many men tell their father-in-laws about their career choices/decisions or for that matter relay to their wife to tell her parents about the goings on of job offers. Seriously. Your 3rd sentenced was contradicted by your 2nd sentence.

I didn't say he "took time to get his name in the hat"?? I said "I'd be a little concerned that he seemed to take a while to get into the fold, given his ties to the program (a CC grad, prior Head HS experience, teaching opening in his field, etc.)"

What I meant was that if this rumor is true, I'd be concerned it took the CC admin so long to get him signed. Logic would say if he was their man out of the gate, they'd have inked him when they let Code go? More likely (as rumored) they were in contact with others, or Russell had some doubts regarding the opening (again rumor was that he was retiring from coaching)??

I've no clue what this bunch (CC admin) thinks, or how this job search has proceeded; only that they've probably let go a better coach than the one they find to replace him? A job like this one (very large school, great facilities, good compensation, only public HS in a large, growing county, etc.) should get a number of well qualified applicants from all over the area, and maybe it has; but the names I've heard don't seem to fit that mold??

Again, for the players' sake, I hope they get this taken care of soon--They deserve better!! :thumb:

Perhaps they just wanted to wait for it to be psoted for thirty or so days.

Word is tenure was a sticking point

I believe Coach Russell is looking to move to CCHS on his own terms. He has tenure at Newport and is well liked. Why make a move and not get what you want when he has the upper hand here, so to speak? When considering all that has gone on with this coaching position over the last decade or so, one should make sure he is in charge.

Maybe they can find a coach like softball that commutes from Texas.

Evidently the administration was not as bad as some thought to be able to bring in a coach that has won two regional titles in the same year. Coach Russell will be very successful at CC.
