The behind the back pass on the break was spectacular. Of course he tried it later and it got picked, but that first one is a highlight reel play for sure. Congrats again Shelby Valley!!

This certainly does make a case against classification. Even if we were classified as Big Schools/Small Schools, Shelby Valley would have walked away this moring the Small School Champ, deprived of the opportunity to gun down Goliath.

 

This is a sweet night for Kentucky basketball, and especially small school basketball in the state where anything still remains possible.

After watching SV beat my son's school, Mason County, I decided to stay and watch the finals. Boy, was I glad I did! SV played solid ball in every facet of the game, but they're shooting was superb. Congrats to the Wildcats.

Shelby Valley was 41% from the field shooting. 23% from threes.

 

Ballard was worse 41% from the floor and an awful 15% from threes.

But I can't really call them a "small" school. Their enrollement is 120th out of 260 or so schools, which means they are larger than 46% of the schools that play basketball.

 

Smaller than Ballard? Yes. Second smallest than every school in the field? Yes.

 

Compared to the Sweet 16 field, they are a small school. Compared to the rest of the state, they aren't small.

Its been a honor watching you all play over the last few years. I knew before you all graduate, that you all would win the big one. The crowd at Rupp for the Championship game was amazing. Valley dominated down at Rupp, winning every game by 10 or more points, I truly do believe that Elisha should be this year's Mr.Basketball

I had my doubts about Justice, but not after this tournament. He turned it up 2 gears in the championship game. The guy is grease lightning. He deserves Mr. Basketball, IMO. Way to go Shelby Valley!!!!
