Congrats SV on a hard fought win over Ballard. The Sweet 16 never ceases to amaze me. Myself and 3 other friends from Columbus,OH were thoroughly impressed. Maybe Timmy Knipp and his team mates can keep the title in the mountains next year.

Guys thanks for all the nice words. This is an absolutely terrific feeling to watch kids youve watched grow up do something this great. If you count the All A this is 3 out of the last 4 State Chapionships. The teams motto since the first practice has been "write your own legacy" and I think they did that tonight.

I love being an Alum of Shelby Valley. This was an awesome game and SV showed their heart and dedication throughout this whole game. If I'm not mistaken the led the whole game as well?

What they announced after the game for All tourney was Means, Jones and Chiles for Ballard. Hatfield, Taylor Newsome and Elisha Justice MVP.

Shelby Valley is the undisputed champion of HS basketball in Kentucky right now. GREAT to see a mountain school bring home the title.

Just gonna throw this out there, Betsy Layne played Valley closer than anyone in the state tournament did. Congrats to the Wildcats as they deserved every bit of it.

Congrats to Shelby Valley. How awesome a feeling it is to be in rupp when your team wins state enjoy it guys you earned it!!

 

It's difficult to explain what a feeling it is. Having watched these kids since elementary school it's a very touching moment. I knew they were a special group of kids, but I'm not sure I even thought this was entirely possible. Elisha is an outstanding player and deserves every accolade he receives. I think you would be hard pressed to find a single player in the entire state that has outworked him over the past few years. It can't be said enough how much Taylor Newsome stepped up in this tournament. He played solid offensively and on the boards every game. Ashley Hatfield also stepped up his game the entire season. His ballhandling as a second option against Ballard was a huge key to the victory. Cody Varney was just a defensive nightmare for all teams SV faced. His energy and athleticism are a big part of what allows SV to play well against athletic teams like Ballard. Tyler Newsome didn't have the best tournament, but has been the difference maker for SV on more than one occasion. He was instrumental in both All "A" titles and elevated his game from being a spot up shooter to an all around player. Finally, Tanner Tackett and Zach Ramey provided some quality minutes off the bench. Ramey's outside shooting and Tanner's hustle and play on Saturday was huge off the bench. I couldn't be more proud of this team and am so glad to see the mountains were represented well...

Not really a upset. It was wide open this year. If they where going to do it this was the year to do it. I'm glad a team from the mountains won it. Wish i could have been there to see it. Looks like Elisha went off. Very impressive back to back all "A" titles and then a state title. A great way to go out. Can't be any better. Congrats valley and good luck to justice.
