I think it was me that sold it to you. Seriously. That was a great car and you are right, faster than heck. Got me in a bit of trouble with the folks for speeding. Hurst T handle shifter?

Wasn't the same one. This one had a Hurst shifter with a round white knob. I bought it from a friend. He said he bought it from a Ft. Thomas policeman. My buddy didn't have it long because it was getting him into to much trouble. Someone could have switched the shifter knob somewhere along the line. I've owned a lot of new and used vehicles but that 442 is the one I'd like to have back.

1973 White Datsun pickup Truck.

A silver 1977 Chevy Chevette, stick shift. I bought it in 78 when I graduated from nursing school. Payments were $89.00 a month. I had to have my mother co-sign the loan. She made me feel like the entire family would starve if I missed a payment. I will say, in my whole live I have never missed a payment on anything.

I loved that car. It was only slightly used and it was the first big purchase I ever made. Great gas mileage and driving a stick almost made it feel like a sports car.

A year later, my future brother in law was arguing with my sister in the driveway. She slammed the door and he, thinking he was in reverse and wanting to "show her" tried to squeal out backwards. Unfortunately his car was in drive and he hit my car sent it through the garage door into my mothers car. My car was totaled. I believe I shared that story on here once before.

My wife had a 76 Grand Prix when we started dating, but it had a 454. Big old boat that would fly. I really liked that old car and others cut from the same mold, like your Tbird.
Yep, wish sometimes I could go back to those days and that car. Rode like your were floating.
My first car was a 1965 Dodge Coronet, it wasn’t pretty but it ran well. It had holes in the floorboard on the passenger side and a big hole in the trunk where the jack fell through. The car had power breaks that were as touchy as they come. You could press the break peddle almost to the floor and you’d get nothing, push just a hair further and the breaks would lock up. I took it to many mechanics, none of them could figure out what was wrong. It took some getting used to but after a while I could apply the breaks as easy as on any other car. It was always a treat to let someone else try to dive it though.

The worst part of driving the car was when it rained if you had your hands on the steering wheel and you applied the breaks you would get one heck of a shock, I soon learned how to apply the breaks with my hands off the steering wheel whenever it was raining. I drove that beauty for more than two years. :ohbrother:

Ahhhhhh!!!!

I had a buddy who had one of these babies. We always asked him to drive so when the Weidi-pops would decide they needed to be released, we wouldn't have to stop to use the bathroom. Everybody always thought he was leaking Anti-Freeze.:lol:

Had a 1967 2 Door T-Bird when I was a senior in high school. It had the same engine I believe as yours and it use to win me the Memorial Challenge in Ft Thomas more times than I care to share these days.:sssh:

Mine was a 1976 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Maroon with a white landau top. 400 cubic inch engine. I was stylin & profiling... :D

1974 Chevy Cheyenne Pickup truck. 8 track player, rusted out landau top. Maroon and white. That truck would fly.

Traded it for a 1977 Mercury Bobcat with a V6. Put a cassette player, 40w power amp and Pioneer speakers and I was rolling! Much better gas mileage than the truck.

Ahhhhhh!!!!

1973 Chevrolet Vega...

For some reason, there was a group of guys at Grayson County High School that all had Vegas. My cousin and his best friend (my hs boyfriend) each had one. They were all souped up with mag wheels and slick paint jobs. It was really, REALLY cool though, when my boyfriend graduated high school. His dad bought him a Mach II that was SWEET! I think his dad was just glad he graduated, and that's why he bought him that car.

1982 Plymouth Horizon TC3. Bought it in August 1988 for $500! It lasted until January 1991 with only having to replace the alternator.

1964 Buick Skylark black, white interior bucket seats, chrome reverse wheels and was always clean and never dirty. Loved the car and passed it down to my little brother in 1971 when I went into the Marine Corps. Bought it for around $900.00 from a dealership in Covington that sold VW's right under the I75 bridge. Great car and loved it. JD

1972 Plymouth Valiant that I "inherited" from my mother. It was the first brand new car my father every bought. It had a slant 6 engine and a "three on the tree" transmission. I drove it until it dies in 1982. Then I purchased the first car I bought, a 1979 Ford Fiesta.

Mine was a 1987 two wheel drive extended cab s-10. I got it in 1995, the day before I got my license. Man I loved that truck. Instead of getting a class ring, I used the money and bought a JVC amp and two 8" MTX Teminators to put in it, and I thought I was really something.

After I hired on the Railroad, I bought a 1995 s-10 and gave the old one to my dad. He drove it for a few years and finally parked it, still running, with 256,000 miles on it.
