March 9, 201016 yr Will make the playoffs this year. A couple of months ago I told myself I wasn't going to be optimistic like I have been the past two or three years. Well I'm not, I'm way beyond that. The pitching the Reds have managed to assemble has me, for a lack of a better word, ECSTATIC. Harang and Arroyo are both in the last year of their contracts, and history tells us how players usually perform during those seasons. Then you have Bailey and Cueto both another year mature and wiser, and you have Chapman, Wood and Leake battling it out for the #5 spot. I know the Reds have disappointed me the past few years when I was optimistic, but I honestly believe this year is going to be different. I know it won't take long for westsider, AJG, TheScribe, malachicrunch, Rocket, and a few others to try and pop my little bubble, but I don't care. I say bring it on. This is the year. Watch out baseball. The Reds are back after taking the last 14 years off. :dancingpa:dancingpa
March 9, 201016 yr I'm thinking World Series win for the Reds this year. As the Wild Card of course. It's the Brewers division to lose.
March 9, 201016 yr I can't imagine the Cards not winning this division. I, too, am the most excited I've been about the Reds in a while. If the Reds had a healthy Volquez from the get-go, their staff would be unreal. It'll be interesting to see how/if he comes back at All-Star break. At a minimum, I think reds' fans will still be following the team after the All-Star game. Jay Bruce is critical. He needs to produce consistently. He hits .230 and it won't matter how solid the Reds' staff is.
March 9, 201016 yr Reds win 90+ games to take the wildcard after having a great race with the Cards all year.
March 9, 201016 yr If they can stay healthy then I think you could be right. The staying healthy part seems to always be a problem though.
March 9, 201016 yr If they make a playoff run, they HAVE to have Volquez back. Any timetable for him?
March 9, 201016 yr If they make a playoff run, they HAVE to have Volquez back. Any timetable for him? Probably July but history shows he won't be himself until next April. But 75% of him doesn't hurt. Playoff run... eh maybe but a lot of things have to happen. We would be asking the young guns to be very consistent and would need Harang/Arroyo to shove out probably 25-30 wins. Reds are building a nice core though.

I don't think its crazy to expect 25-30 from those 2. If they are both healthy I see no reason they can't get to that. Add is 20-25 from Homer and Cueto and we are in business.
