I agree that he would benefit from some time in the minors; however, I don't think it'll happen if he continues to throw the ball this well. I hope Maloney wins the 5th spot.

Owings will not be in the rotation to start the season unless someone else gets hurt. Crusty likes him in long relief and wants to be able to use him as a pinch hitter a lot.

I would think that even if they think he's ready for the bigs, that he still might start the year in the minors, just because the #5 starter tends to be the one who loses his start if there's a rain out and the rotation gets off. Get him some regular work in the minors and then when the weather starts to stabilize, bring him up. Now, if they're planning on using him out of the bullpen, that'd be a different story. Of course, it all hinges on him being "ready".
March 11, 201016 yr I'd say bring Chapman up in June. It's a win win that way IMO. I agree. Give him a little time in Louisville to get settled in and to familiarize himself with everything...like life in the United States for example.
