I think anyone who is getting any type of aid should have to pass a drug test as well as anyone voted in office.

Absolutely you should have to pass a drug test to receive unemployment , welfare , ADP or anything like this . When I was working I had to pass a drug test to be eligible for a job from our Union hiring hall , no drug test no job . It should be like this in all industries .

Here's one I find ironic...as a contract doing government work, my company has to perform random drug testing. However, there are hardly any ACTUAL GOVERNMENT JOBS that require any kind of testing. :irked:

This is a no brainer to me, you should have to absolutley test to receive government aid as long as it's the law.

why? There are all kinds of other vices, sins, whatever. Why pick that one?

Because the people getting welfare money could potentially be buying drugs illegally with the governments money. :confused:

The knee jerk reaction in me says "yes." However, I can't come up with a good argument other than to be punitive. I don't buy the "they might buy drugs" argument. Unless we are appointing someone to oversee how each of the unemployed spends their check why do we pick drugs? What if they just drinks themselves silly? What if they stuff their face with potato chips and pizza?

 

Unless you're going to say no one convicted of a crime can received federal aid then I'm not sure how you are for this one.

Hmmm...so I a the only NO vote so far...

 

"Unemployment" is really "Unemployment Insurance". The insuraces is for whether you have a job or not. You should not have to be proactively tested. However, I could be agreeable to reducing or eliminating the insurance benefits if you fail a pre-screen for a potential job due to illegal drugs.

I can't speak for everyone but I say that because drugs are illegal. Drinking and getting fat aren't.

Personally I think idealism and pacifism should be taxed.
