Newport was my darkhorse at the beginning of the year and they have the talent to get past Ryle which will be their toughest game in that top bracket. I really like the way Ryle is playing and if they were playing anyone other than Newport I would probably predict them to win their first round game, outside of Holmes that is.

 

I know NCC blew out Newport last night but they will re-focus and knowing they dont have to face NCC or Holmes until the finals will motivate them to lay it on the line and play hard and smart. JMO

 

Holmes though is still my choice as winner and best representation downstate.

I'll take a stab at it with some upset picks:

In my opinion, Newport is run down. They only play 6 kids so I don't know how much gas is left in the tank. They may have peaked too early with their run in the All "A". Newport had a lot if trouble guarding the half court sets run by NCC, and Ryle will do just as many, if not more.

I think NCC has an very good shot of running the table. Holmes will be tough, but if everyone is healthy for NCC, they are capable of beating them.

The Holmes vs. Dixie game might be closer than some people expect. Remember Dixie only lost by 3 last time they played. They lost by 3 with their big man (Zeke Pike) sitting out the last 5 minutes of the game.

Dixie would actually have the toughest draw, but, rightfully so. If the tourney was seeded, Holmes would be #1 and Dixie #8. Interestingly, Dixie already proved that they could give Holmes fits. Very few games are a sure thing come tourney time. Here's hoping to a nailbiter!!
