Everyone is acting like holmes is the team of god. Holmes comes into almost every game thinking there gunna beat every team. This is why they have lost 5 games this season..not saying there good. But this region is wide open. Any team can win it..its about who wants it more.. I have New cath winning the region ( they've been proving thereselves over the last few games)

Another reason they lost 5 games is because of the level of competition they play against. Their loses come from some of the top teams from Indiana, Georgia, Ohio, Ballard, and the annual NKY slip up- Ryle. I'm not saying they can't be beat, but a large reason for the increase in loses is the tough schedule.

The Holmes vs. Dixie game might be closer than some people expect. Remember Dixie only lost by 3 last time they played. They lost by 3 with their big man (Zeke Pike) sitting out the last 5 minutes of the game.

:sssh:

I believe Elijah Pittman was also in foul trouble in the second half of this game as well. Not a valid argument, IMO.

Look at Holmes' schedule and tell me how many other nky teams could have went 21-5 against that type of competition.

I agree wholeheartedly that any team can be beaten but the simple fact is, we've said all year how bad Holmes was playing and they've continued to win games. When March gets here, they have stepped it up.

BTW, 9th region teams are 3-46 against this Holmes' senior class. Tough to pick against those kind of odds.

Look I say if Elijah fouls out with 5 minutes to go then Dixie pulls the upset that night. I think everybody in the gym that night would agree with that.

I totally agree. Nice stat on the senior class.

Dixie shot the ball extremely well from outside that night, outscoring Holmes 15-0 from the perimeter. Big difference there.

Ricardo Johnson and Elijah Pittman also combined for 45 of Holmes 67 points. I doubt very seriously Dixie is capable of holding JJ to just 2 points again.

You could use a lot of different scenarios of ifs and buts, but the bottom line is Dixie didn't win. End of story.

As far as the thread title and my predictions:

Ryle over Newport

St. Henry over Covcath

Holmes over Dixie

Newcath over Boone

Semi finals:

Ryle over St. Henry

Holmes over Newcath

Finals:

Holmes over Ryle

The bottom line to that is the number 1 Holmes Bulldogs were playing an unranked Dixie Heights team and almost got beat by them. Bottom line to that is if I'm a betting man I would put money on it saying that Holmes will not even make it to the final four.

Bold prediction there. If you're referring to the State tourney final 4, I can see you possibly being correct, but not if you're referring to the region tournament.

We shall see. Holmes will beat Dixie by 10+ in the rematch, IMO. Guess we'll find out Thursday night. Only time will tell my friend. :thumb:

If YOU are a betting man please stay away from casinos, horse tracks, and never go to Vegas... you might loose your house.

"Not even make it to the final four" You're kidding right???

He is the only one that voted Dixie to win it above.

The votes have been tabulated. If you are a glass half full kind of person, congratulations to the 3.57% of BGP voters who correctly picked Newport to win the 9th region. For the other 96.43% (myself included) ....swingggg and a miss. :isurrender:

140 voters and only 5 correctly picked Newport to win.

Kudos to those 5, whoever you are.
