February 27, 201313 yr Bought a six-pack of Bell's Two-Hearted Ale last night. It has long been -- and remains -- among my favorite IPAs. Excellent IPA. Excellent beer...period. It's probably in my top 3. My favorite, though, it called "Wipeout IPA" by San Diego based Port Brewing. The closest I've ever found it to KY is in Chicago, though. If you're a hop-head, make a point to find yourself one if you make it to Chi-town.

February 28, 201313 yr I haven't read 98% of this thread so it may have been said, but Sergio's in Louisville has a pretty insane selection. It's in the butchertown area sort of by my old Kentucky Homebrew. The food there is pretty good too.
February 28, 201313 yr Went to Country Boy Brewing's tap room last night. They've got some good stuff going on there. Had all of their porters. -Black Gold 1 year old, aged for a year in Pappy Van Winkle barrels. 8.5% -Black Gold Barrel aged, 6 months in Heaven Hill barrells. 8.0% -Black Gold Porter, regular porter. 6.2% Had their RX Strength Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. Also aged in Pappy barrels. 12.1% Had one called Brown Chicken / Brown Cow. It was a tradition brown ale infused with vanilla beans. 5.4% Had the Lazy Rye Pale Ale. 6.7% Last was Cliff Jumper IPA. 6.5% The BC/BC did not work for me. The vanilla was over powering and made it sweet. One of the guys I was with however, said it was one of the best beers he has ever had. The IPA was good but not great. Very similar to Ranger IPA. I enjoyed the rye a lot. Great flavor, body, and hops. The regular porter was very good. All 3 of the barrell aged beers were absolutely fantastic.
March 1, 201313 yr Just bout a growler of Bell's Hell Hath No Fury. It's a Belgian Strong Dark Ale, nice beer to just sip and relax. Not the best Belgian beer I've had, but decent. While I was at the liquor store, I was trying to decide on a bottle of bourbon. One of the staff asked what I was looking for, I told him I like Woodford but want to try something along that line but a bit cheaper. He suggested a bottle of W.L. Weller 12 Year. It's a very nice wheated bourbon at a comfortable price. Wheated bourbon can be too sweet at times, but this has enough oak and spice to keep things from becoming syrupy or overly sweet. I'll buy it again.
March 14, 201313 yr Up in the brewing belt of Michigan (MI-131). Gotta 6er of Huma Lupa Licious IPA. It is great!!!! If you ever get up in the Kalamazoo area make sure you stop to pick up a 6er of this stuff. I bought mine at Meijers.
March 15, 201313 yr ^Never heard of that one but apparently it's a 3F seasonal. Makes sense with St. Patty's day coming up.
