What Beer/Wine are you are tasting right now?

Friday night, I was at the Yardhouse with RTS and some friends. Even though I'm really not a beer drinker, I have to have at least one when I'm with him or it makes him sad. Anyway, I described to the waiter, the sort of attributes I was looking for. He said, "I know just the perfect thing!"

A few minutes later, a beer came and I tried it. It was a Kona Longboard Island Lager and it's the first beer I can actually say that I like. It was really good! :thumb:

It's amazing how much the waiters/waitresses/bartenders know about the beer at the Yardhouse. I am friends with one and before they can start they have to take a test covering the however many beers they have there.

Our waiter was awesome! He was funny and personable, but more importantly, he was on the ball and really knew his stuff.

When the food server brought my dinner I noticed that it had the wrong vegetable. I started picking at my fish, figuring I'd wait until our waiter came by and then ask him to fix it. Well, a minute or so later (standing about six feet or more from us) he points at my plate and says, "That is COMPLETELY wrong!" Then he swooped up my plate, apologized and was off to get it right. Moments later, the maître 'd or someone of that type was at my side apologizing some more and promising to get it right. I felt like a mafia don or something. Real class! I will definitely go back!

Destroying some marzen-style Oktoberfest beers this month. Had a couple of the Sam Adams Octoberfest on Saturday evening.

Someone that looks a lot like me told you to try a Kona Longboard from the beginning.... :whistling: :lol2:

Seriously though, BF is right, the waiter was great as was the food!

No, I believe they pointed at the menu and said, "You'll want to stay over here in the wussy section."

Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA

I stopped by Everything's D'vine last week (West 4th Street in Cincy) and picked up a four pack of Uinta Imperial Black IPA. They don't sell in KY but it is great. I'm a huge IPA/DIPA/3IPA fan and have been trying to adapt to the black roast but everyone I've had seems thin. This one is like a meal, malty and hoppy and less than $10 which is a steal.

Great Lakes Eliot Ness last night. Good stuff.

Terrapin Pumpkinfest. Very good.

Terrapin has some good beers. Where did you pick this up.

I got it at a liquor store near downtown Nashville. I've never seen it in Kentucky.

After a long trip back from Fajardo, Puerto Rico......drinking a traditional high ball of Old Forester and Ginger Ale....

They don't distribute in KY but wish they did. They have a great session Pale Ale in cans.
