Dooley to UT

Featured Replies

Dooley, Dooley, song by the Darlings. Just heard also ESPN that its not final.

If its true is this a Home Run hire?

I see it as more of a base on balls than a HR really. But he did get La Tech to a bowl game in his 2nd season.

Strike 3 looking right down the pipe.

The mention of Sumlin of Houston leads me to believe that Sumlin wasn't interested. THAT would be a HR of a hire. But Dooley? Really?

Did they not get my resume'? My pewee team went to the playoffs last year?

I'd say striking out isn't even the correct term. This is like hitting into an inning ending double play. Frankly, I love the hire! :D

ESPN changed their story from sources say UT is hiring Dooley to saying that he is a top candidate for the job. This is surprising.

I haven't seen such negativity about a college football coaching hire since Rich Brooks was hired at Kentucky. :sssh:

The Auburn hire last year caught a lot of negative press, but I definitely see your point. The difference with Brooks was that he had built a perennial bottom feeder into a solid program before he left.

I heard they are singing Dooley in the Mountains.

Dooley was a good ole man,

He lived below the mill

Dooley had two daughters

And a 40 gallon still.

One gal watched the boiler

The other watched the spout

And Mama caught the bottles

When ole Dooley fetched them out.

cho: Dooley, slippin' up the holler

Dooley, tryin' to make a dollar

Dooley, give me a swaller

And I'll pay you back someday.

The revenuers came for him

A slippin' through the woods

Dooley kept behind them all

And never lost his goods

Dooley was a trader

When into town he'd come

Sugar by the bushel

And molasses by the ton.

I remember very well

The day ole Dooley died

The women folk looked sorry

And the men stood round and cried

Now Dooley's on the mountain

He lies there all alone

They put a jug beside him

And a barrel for his stone.

Well, the streak should end next year!!!!! UT will be irrelevant in the national picture by 2013.

Not so fast. I'm hearing Sumlin from Houston may be entering the picture now. The big hang up is Tennessee's insistence that the current staff be retained.

ESPN added all that to the corrected article a little while ago.

I can't blame Sumlin for this at all. If I am going to live or die by the results, I want to decide who I feel can best help me get those results.
