That tells me the current staff members have multiple year contracts and Tennessee is on the hook for them if they are let go. What coach would want to come and not be able to name his own staff? There is case history that this situation does not work well (see Louisville Coach Steve Kragthorpe).

But this is Tennessee we are talking about, not Kentucky. If Kentucky made this hire, one should be ticked, but Kentucky is still traditionally one of the worst football schools in America. Tennessee's success is on par with the other college football greats.

I don't think other coaches even argue with the fact that Monte Kiffin is probably, even at 69 years old, the best defensive mind in all of football. As someone I read recently said, "Lane Kiffin started out at third base, and he thinks he is there because he hit a triple."

If Kentucky made this hire, one should be ticked, but Kentucky is still traditionally one of the worst football schools in America. Tennessee's success is on par with the other college football greats. That is a stretch isn't it? One of the worst???
