I think Volquez is fine. The latest I read is he may be a little ahead of schedule. I really haven't kept up. I know Houston signed Brett Myers. What other moves have they made?
January 11, 201016 yr They got Pedro Feliz from the Phillies, pitcher Matt Lindstrom from the Marlins, signed Brandon Lyon as their closer, and Josh Banks from the Padres. Other than Feliz, nothing major but they are filling in some blanks on their staff that now includes Oswalt, Wandy, and Myers

I don't think it has anything to do with Volquez's injury. I think he'll recover okay. I think a lot of Reds fans that are counting on him coming back by July are going to be disappointed but I think he'll be fine by 2011. I think this was more a calculated gamble on the Reds part. If it pays off they've got an ace for $5 Million a year. Of course if it doesn't it will hurt them down the road but it at least signals that they are trying.
January 11, 201016 yr I don't think it has as much to do with Voloquez as it does as Harang/Arroyo. Harang has a lot of miles and so does Arroyo who opted not to have surgery for his carpal tunnel.

January 11, 201016 yr I'm happy not only about the move, but I'm happy for the Reds. At least they're trying to improve. I know us fans are not the only ones sick of mediocrity. Good teams start from the mound and I feel like they're sticking to that mentality.

He is hoping to return by July 2010. I agree. Tommy John surgery is a very risky surgery that should been taken with caution. You can not afford to rush your rehab in hopes of returning sooner or you'll ultimately cause the muscle tissue to not heal properly and could do further damage to it possibly ending a career. Doctors put timetables on those surgeries for a reason. :thumb:
