I don't care what the media thinks. I don't care what Florida fans think. I don't care about his religious convictions. I don't care about his social life. I don't care if he gets a popularity award (aka Heisman). I'm no coach and played a little high school ball. I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination. All I do know is that I've been watching college football for 40 years and he's the best college football player I've ever seen.

I like the guy and wish him the best in the NFL.....no matter where or what he plays.

He is not good enough of a pocket passer to play QB in the pros. We've had this discussion a few times on here, and sometimes someone will talk about a team drafting him and then developing him into one. Why would I spend that much time developing Tebow into a pocket passer when I can just draft another player that can do it better now, and develop him into a better passer?

 

The only, ONLY, thing that makes Tebow great in college is that he is physically dominant over most people he sees on the field. Teams may have a few guys that can match him physically. As a result, he is a threat to run the ball and run over players. That allows him some latitude in the passing game. These factors will not exist in the pros. Every single player in the pros is going to be on par with him physically. If he tries to run anyone over, it will the last time he does it. If he's not running people over, then where is his added value in that arena? Defenses wouldn't respect the run the same way the college has to, which would place more of a microscope on his passing ability, where he is deficient.

 

Moving beyond that position, why would I spend the time to convert him to another position? I want a FB, I draft a FB or convert an RB. You're already hearing whispers about Tebow wearing down some from the beatings he's taken over the years (hence his rushing average has dropped last two years), and he's not even in the pros yet. He just doesn't give that much added value to try to convert him to another position, beyond an occasional gimmick play. Hence drafted, but not highly.

Drafted? Yes. High? No.

One of the things that I heard this morning was the there was talk out of Jacksonville that they'd draft him just because he'd put butts in the seats with him being from there and all.......I think that's a disservice to him, the team, and the fans.

I do not dislike Tebow at all, I have stated in the past that I despise Florida and U. Meyer but I just cannot dislike Tebow bc of all the things he stands for. Tim Tebow says that he is a Christian and is jmo that some people don't like him bc of that and his "good" image. I may be wrong and am not looking to get in any debate over it, was just a thought.

I do hope that he (Tebow) doesn't win the Heisman. McCoy, Suh and Ingram all should be ahead of him as far as I am concerned. I believ that one of those three will win it, I am personally pulling for McCoy.

I don't have a problem with Tebow at all. I could however do with out ESPN covering every bowel movement he has.

Doing the chomp in peoples faces and encouraging Meyer to do thinks like run up the score or call those time outs seems bad for someone of that character. Yes, ridiculous. You can be a Christian & a competitor. Tebow wants to win, just as much as any other player. He is passionate about the game, which is something to be respected. I doubt you'll hear anything about him being late to practice, being unprepared for a game (or practice), or anything else that detracts from the team & its focus.

Naw, I just see it as he's running up the score and rubbing it in, all in the name of Jesus. I may be wrong, but I couldn't see one of the 12 apostles doing the Gator chomp in someones face like he did last year.:idunno: Then he can't take it when he loses (though like I said I will excuse Saturday's game). He's a fierce competitor but he is a really bad sportsman as well IMO.

 

I don't really care if someone is or is not a bad sport. I just hate them acting like he is just an amazing human being that no one else even compares to. Once again this is just my take.

What does it matter? Tebow is a great player. You can act like he walks on water all you want, but IMO he gets too much credit for the off the field stuff. I don't really care what his religion is and it has nothing to do with if he's a good player or not.

I remember after a few losses his Sophomore year he cried a few times. UF wasn't in title contention or anything. Could be youth, but if you're going to act like he does when he has success then you should be able to take a loss IMO. Like I said, if he had other religious beliefs it would be a different story IMO.

Why? Most people who say they don't like him, are not saying they don't like him as a person. Its more that they are tired of hearing about him, tired of hearing people say he might have been one of the best players to ever play the game. Which by the way he isn't, he is at the same level as any other Heisman winner which means he was a great player. However he really has not done much more than other Heisman guys, to be rewarded with saying he might be the best player ever. He very well also could end his career 1 and 2 as a starter in bowl game, which is not that great. Also people may not like how he kind of portrays himself to be better than maybe he really is. I know for me there is one thing I definitely think he lied about, and is not as completely good as he tries to make himself seem be. So its not completely about not liking him as a person, its more about how he portrays himself to the media and how others try to portray him.

Can someone please explain to me why people should say he might be the best player to ever play the game? Yes he has won a title, and won a Heisman which are great accomplishments. He was not the starter his freshman year, and if he was the starter that team does not win the Title. So that should not be counted. I mean Colt McCoy could win the Heisman and title this year, and I bet people dont end up saying he might be the best player ever. Even though he would have accomplished the same thing as Tebow. Tebow for his career very well could end up 1 and 2 as a starter in bowl game. How is that considered as being the best ever? A quarterback just a few years ago by the name of Matt Leinhart, actually accomplished more for a career than Tebow. So we should consider Leinhart as a better football player than we do Tebow. This is one of the reasons why people end up not liking him, because people are tired of hearing these thing. He is a great player yes, best of all time definitely not.
