AC still played in 11 or 12 games. He was hurt by having a coach with a soft spot for other teams. If you remember the Birds toyed with the Tigers deciding to work on their passing game. AC if they would have given him the ball 15 times would have gotten 200 and 3 to 4 TDs easily. They played their cards right but he still should have gotten on the ballot. Answer why and how he can get the Paul Horning award as the best player in the state playing for the best team in the state but he can't make the list?

 

I think you have answered part of your own question. He very well may be the best player in the state. But he didn't have the best year individually in the state. Two different awards with two different sets of criteria. The best player doesn't always get all the awards. The awards AC is getting are very well deserved but his numbers don't justify getting an award for the best year. Do you think Highlands would have won state rather he played or not? I'm guessing you probably do. Do you think SK would have went as far as they did if not for Miles? I'm guessing probably not. AC is a tremendous football player with all the ability to do great things. But due to circumstances he didn't have the best year of anyone in the state.

The list I saw had around 15 players on it. He should've been mentioned to say the least. Missing 3-4 games is not that bad.

I like Collinsworth, and he may get a shot. But realistically every kid that UC is going to recruit isn't going to be the kind ND is going to go after. I'd like to see him have an offer, but I think it's far from guaranteed.

So Kyle Rudolph was a bigger recruit then AC is this season? Go check the Navy roster and you will see former Ryle star Vince Murray listed. He only ran all over ND this year, 2 tds and 165 yrds in a win. Murray was a D1 player but ND didn't bat an eye his way. AC is the best player in the state and plays on the 4th ranked team in the nation. He's a smart kid who could easily pass the rigorous admitting standards and he has a ton of upside. He could be the next Wes Welker at WR or even better a John Lynch type DB. His work ethic is unreal and he could put on another 20lbs easily.

I don't think he is those things yet. I saw two running backs better saturday, Boyle's and Lex Chr.

I never once said he deserved to win Mr Football so don't misconstrue my words. I am in the opinion that he should have been on the list. Then if he were to win it then you can gripe about his lack of statistucs due to having a coach that didn't feel it was necessary to put one individual over a team goal.

It is no slight to be the 3rd best back at the state championship! Even 2nd best player on his team. The Roller kid at LB was a stud.

If he does then expect him to offer Miles Simpson as well. If Collinsworth would've been on the Mr. Football ballot it would've been a joke. Part of being the most productive player is being on the field all the time.

I'm not arguing that. I've only watch him play twice and was very impressed both times. I just think that it's kind of obvious that every kid that UC targets is not going to be what BK would target at ND. If Collinsworth goes to ND I'll be very happy for him, but if he doesn't it shouldn't be a shock either.

 

How high up on UC's target list is Collinsworth? That will probably tell you if BK will try to bring him on. If he's one of the top 5-7, I'll say he has a shot. If not BK will probably try to secure the players ND has committed, while going after their other current targets along with a few that he tries to get in late on.

 

I'm in no way trying to discredit Collinsworth or say that he should't/couldn't play at ND. It's just not going to be an automatic thing IMO. What position is UC recruiting him at? What is his height, weight, 40 time? Seems like a pretty good athlete.

I think AC is definitely ND material. I personally believe he has such tremendous potential. Look at how versatile the kid is. All-State Sophomore year at DB, All-State Jr. year at receiver All-American Sr. year. From what I understand an outstanding student. All around good kid. No doubt IMO if BK does take the ND job he at least talks to AC.

His Dad played in the SEC...maybe he wants to go that route, but with a different team?
