The writing is on the wall and Brian Kelly will be the next coach at ND. Since he recruited AC at UC can we expect something from ND? I say yes.

The Irish are already full with verbals at all the positions that Collinsworth would project to play: RB, WR and DB. From here on out they are in search of linemen for both offense and defense. I can't see him getting a ND offer even if Kelly takes the job.

 

Also, I wouldn't place Collinsworth in the same realm with Kyle Rudolph. Until his injury in the seventh game of the season, Kyle was one of the Top 5 TEs in the nation and he was only a sophomore.

I thought this was a forum on Kentucky High School Football and not OHIO, ND, or ELDER. Guess I was wrong.

^Didn't someone compare Collinsworth to Rudolph though? They don't compare as a prospect on a National Level.

I know they play different positions but Rudolph was on a completely different level in high school than AC was the past few years but thats just my opinion.

Isn't it a double standard to say people can't say there are players that are better then Collinsworth, when you are saying he is better then someone else and should be on the list?

 

Saying he is not better then other players is part of the topic. If someone says he should be on the list and may receive an offer from ND, then some can say he is not worthy, simple opinion.

He has been an all-state player at 3 positions the last 3 years, asked to and went to the Army's national H.S. football combine as a Jr.. He won the Hornung Award as Ky Outstanding Football player, today received an invite to the Army's All American Bowl game as the only H.S. player from Ky. to get asked. MVP of the State game. He has college offers from 2 west coast top 20 teams,SEC teams,Big East teams and an Ivy league team. My guess is he is the highest reguarded recruit in the State.

Yes, injuries kept some of his stats lower than they ought to have been but due to all the blowout games, he spent lots of valuble statistics time watching the JV players in the second half of games.

I'm not saying that he deserved to win the Mr. Ky. Award but definitely should have been on the ballot !!

No negatives here! AC played whatever role was needed and did it well. He could play defensive back or wide out in D1 and would be an all everything if he goes IVY. ND would be lucky to have a true student athlete and more importantly a young player that has the right work ethic. I am so tired of he missed a couple of games due to injury (was he reallly needed?). Stats are not titles and I will take a winner that puts the team in front of individual accomplishments. I am sure he will make the right decision for him. :thumb:

I'm not arguing that. I've only watch him play twice and was very impressed both times. I just think that it's kind of obvious that every kid that UC targets is not going to be what BK would target at ND. If Collinsworth goes to ND I'll be very happy for him, but if he doesn't it shouldn't be a shock either.

 

How high up on UC's target list is Collinsworth? That will probably tell you if BK will try to bring him on. If he's one of the top 5-7, I'll say he has a shot. If not BK will probably try to secure the players ND has committed, while going after their other current targets along with a few that he tries to get in late on.

 

I'm in no way trying to discredit Collinsworth or say that he should't/couldn't play at ND. It's just not going to be an automatic thing IMO. What position is UC recruiting him at? What is his height, weight, 40 time? Seems like a pretty good athlete.

 

It is quite obvious that whatever was going on in South Bend just wasnt working and that probably started with the recruiting process by the former coach, so to say that BK should stick with the incoming commitments would not be BK style. And it is also quite obvious that whatever Brian Kelley was doing at UC did work. And if AC was on BK list at UC and lets say he was in the 5to7 range then that would mean he would be probably in the 2-3 range at ND because of their entrance requirements. Lets face it, ND has lost some shine over the last few yrs and has struggled and some of the top recruits in the country are passing on them not just because they cant get in academically but because there are better football programs out there who also play on national tv every week and also have a chance to play for a national championship every yr. I would love to see AC go to ND and help that pitiful for a secondary they had this past yr. He would be a great asset to their proud program. :thumb:

I could see him having success at ND. I'm just saying tha it's just not realistic for a coach to try to bring his entire recruiting class IMO. You're kind of stuck with what ever is left to you a bit in the first year unless you want to really scramble for recruits.

AC participated in the Army All American Junior Combine last yr in San Antonio. I had the honor of attending this combine and I can tell you this much. Size is right at 6'0 wt is somewhere around 180. 40 time was somewhere in the 4.6 range(jr time) His 40 time ranked somewhere in the 150 to 170 range out of 500 of Americas biggest, fastest, badest 17 yr olds all touted as D1 prospects. Now the one time that turned all the heads in the joint was his shuttle time in which he timed 2nd out of 500 kids. He also went one on one against two of highest touted kids at cornerback in the country. One kid commited to Fl and the other to LSU. AC actually worked out at WR in the combine. The kid from Fl ran the fastest 40 time at 4.34 and I believe the LSU kid ran a 4.4. Neither one of the DB's could cover him up. He ran somewhere around 20 routes and not once did they cover him up. His separation is absoulutely unbelievable. At one point in time the entire combine was watching him because of the matchup and AC did not dissapoint. My point is the kid is big time and has what is called gametime speed, and I believe he can play anywhere. He is being snubbed because of his 40 time and that is too bad.
