I did pick UNC to win (I thought they were more advanced than U.K. at this point) but in no way am I or was I a non believer. I don't think anyone else was either, just that we were not "there" yet (and we are stiil not as good as we can or will be :sssh:). I am thrilled to eat crow on this one.

Still a lot of room for improvement but still a great win. I'm not sure that we would have blown UNC out had Wall stayed in but I think we would have won more comfortably. I picked against the cats and I've never been so happy to say I was wrong. Consider me a believe...

And as for the bolded, if you think about it, I've only been on this board for 5 years, and I don't really think UK has been that exciting to watch in that time frame.

 

 

 

That is true to an extent. But if you were a Kentucky fan you would know as boring as Tubby or Billy ball was, there was still plenty of excitement in some games. Until finally Tubby started leaking most of it out, with Billy Clyde coming in with a bowie knife and shredding the excitement out.

The 28-2 run was just a glimpse of things to come. I could not contain myself during that stretch. It was like Dejavu back to 1996. The shot by Wall with his left hand was just unreal. This is why they hired Coach Cal. Going to be a great season, so I am just going to sit back and enjoy this one.

Coach Cal after he was asked if Kentucky is back now that they've beaten at top 10 team.

 

 

"No, we are not back. We are not very good. You guys had to have watched that. We had 21 turnovers. There were times late in the game where you had to say, `Why did he do that?' Because that is exactly what I was saying, guys. We walked out of three timeouts and guys were asking what we were running. We did that three different times. All that stuff, to be more focused in timeouts and do it in practice and understand that this is about our team not you. We have all those things to cure. We held a good shooting team to 38-percent and holding people around 36-percent is where we need to be. There were times were we looked really good defensively. There were times we looked really, really good defensively. For us to be this young and not be very good or know what we are doing, we have guys that are trying to have a will to win. I will tell you who else played well, how about Daniel Orton? The game changed in the first half because of Daniel's intensity. No one else, you put him in and he went crazy and everybody picked it up and we go on a run and before you know it we are up 12, 14 points. It was Daniel Orton. Now, I told him after, that we have to get him where we get more offense out of him. He and DeMarcus have got to challenge each other during the week so that when they get into the game it is easy. Right now it is too hard for them and when they catch the ball they are just throwing it. If anybody is physical they are not able to make the plays. So we have to work on that in practice. Darnell was pretty good but how about Ramon Harris again. I know that he turned it over but he is going to do that some. I thought that he was terrific."

Cal said he was hitting the recruiting road tonight. Wonder where he is heading? The game today should make this an easy sell.

Biggest win in several years in my opinion. It felt so good to see UK finally beat a great team. It kind of felt like the late 90s again.

I felt the same way. It was the most exited I have been over a UK game in a long time. Feels great knows we can compete with the big dogs again.:ylsuper:

This thread is cracking me up! I mean this was a great win by UK and a good start, but to say this is like 1996 is hilarious. This same UNC team lost to Syracuse by 16.
