I think it will be Simpson because he is the most highly regarded player in the state by the recruiters who also has the stats to back that up. McShara has great stats. But Ricky Buckler of Bellevue also has 2,800 yards and 42 TD's and no one is saying a word about him as Mr. Football. My point being it isn't just about stats. I think what the player is expected to do on the next level is a HUGE factor. That's why I say Simpson wins.

Actually, LCA plays ABOVE their level of competition --- and EXCELS. They don't just play at/below their skill level.

No, Simpson's #'s while playing for a 6A team were more than likely against some of the best tacklers in the State INCLUDING St X which he had close to 100 yards in about 2 1/2 quarters against, I think that's what he's trying to say.

 

If you don't get it find how many threads talked about SK's O-Line being tops in the state, there won't be too many. They were a good O line but you all act like there can't be anyone better than 6A.

 

What I believe ROCKPRIDE was getting at is regardless of his #'s Simpsons mostly got his against probably the best competition in the state period. Especially when you consider the fact that the first 4 games he played injured and sparingly against what I'm sure you would consider weaker competition. Just look at his game by game stats he EXPLODED the second half of the season and that was against better equiped teams and also after he was healthy, I can COMPLETELY understand if you don't think he just suddenly got healthy, but watch the game films and you can tell a huge difference in his play and how he'd walk between plays.

Miles Simpson is on a different level than anyone in the state...Others may have the offensive numbers, but miles has the offensive numbers and also the physical measurements and tools that make him a beast and also one of the most highly recruited player in the state...And too say playing in 6A doesn't make a difference is absurd, while SK didn't play X or T every FRI night I'm willing to bet that Boone, Connor, Ryle, Dixie, Henry Clay, Butler, Manual, X, and they also played a very athletic Shroder OH team and man handled them...Simpson played on basically one healthy ankle the first 4 games of the year which is not easy for a player with the ability to cut on a dime like any high school RB you will ever see...One last point SK's QB Lawrence also got a bulk of carries and over 1,000 yards while throwing for nearly 2,000, So Miles Simpsons numbers are just sick in a dynamic offensive that was heads and shoulders above any other in the state...

I believe Tennessee breaks their Mr. Football down into classes like you have suggested. I'm guessing several others states do the same.

The best player does not always win this award. In fact usually the winner is not the best player in the state but the winner is usually the most popular. This is a popularity contest and factors like location, team playeng for and vote splits impact who wins it.

 

I think NKY will split their vote as will central. Tat leads me to guess that will favor Andrews at FC

In the last 23 years 13 of 21 possible Mr. Football's (becuase I can't find where Evarts H.S. or Harrodsburg H.S. were classed or else it'd be 23) were from class 4A or higher according to where the schools are now. Most of that was when their were 4 classes too so some of those were in the biggest class then thus proving my point.

 

It has definately been an issue as of recently. In the last 10 years 8 of 10 players have been from 4A or higher.

While all that maybe true, there are also alot more kids playing football at larger schools, so percentage wise one would expect that there would be more Mr. Footballs come out of that pool.
