What would make you think Mayfield could beat a team of Beechwoods caliber by 3 TD's. Not saying it's impossible just curious what your thinking here. :confused::ohbrother:

Since I haven't seen Mayfield play, I don't know what to expect other than a normal hardnosed semi-final game. I like Beechwood until someone in Class A beats them. They've been here more than any other Class A team in the State and they win far more than than lose. I appreciate CardinalFan's insight on his team. I hope it's a great game and I, for one, hope that Beechwood comes out on top since I am an a Beechie grad. Class of 1976.

I remember when Mayfield played Danville in 00 and they stayed overnight, the players in 02 told the coaches that they would rather take the bus up on game day early and get some hotel rooms and relax for a few hours before the game instead of being gone from home and all the distractions that come with it.

Yep, I don't think coach Morris does it anymore, we've been burned too many times.

 

As for the 2 or 3 point TD win for Mayfield, it's possible. Mayfield put up over 40 points against Tennessee powerhouse Trousdale county. The question will be if Mayfield can hold onto the ball or not.

I guess the same reason some Beechwood fans feel they'll win by that many.. No seriously, I think they're 3 TDs better this year.. Traditionally, no way would I predict that, home or on the road, but, this year, they are. Mayfield should be able to control the line of scrimmage with superior size and they have the speed to contain Beechwoods speed. I also like the Cardinals versatility to run and pass. That's a hard combination to contain and I also like there pass defense...Just my opinion...

Hey your opinion is what I was looking for. I'm not a Beechwood guy but I'm from NKY and Will be rooting for them. I haven't seen Mayfield play how big are they? Bellevue had the size advantage on Beechwood last week but it didn't seem to slow Beechwood down. What type of field does Mayfield have?

Do you think coming down the night before eliminates the road trip issue? The only bus ride Friday will be from the hotel to the stadium.

 

 

Yes, driving down the day before should probably help. I didn’t know they were driving down on Thanksgiving. Either way I still believe turnovers, or lack of, will likely determine who wins.

From reading everyone's comments these teams seem evenly matched.

They may be, but, that's just not my opinion. Yes, if Mayfield puts the ball on the ground 2 or 3 times like they did last week, they could be in for a long night, but, any team could do that. IMO, if the penalties and turnovers are about even, I think the Cardinals handle them pretty handily. I've only seen the Tigers online a couple of times, so I could very well be wrong, but, from what I've witnessed, I don't see them staying in the ballgame for 4 quarters. Mayfields speed is superior and there line play is superior.

Scanned some previous posts...curious, are you a Mayfield fan or a BW hater?

Beechwood stayed in the game with Highlands and that was early in the season. This team has gotten a lot better so I think they will stay in the game and have a chance to win. But we will see what happens on Friday.

 

 

I guess it depends on what you consider staying in the game.. Highlands led by 24 early and every time Beechwood would pull to 17, FTH would answer immediately. Highlands was never in danger of losing that game.. I also feel that was one of Highlands worse performances of the year and one of Beechwoods best...The games with Dixie and Cov Cath were just as lopsided and neither are near the teams that Highlands is, so, those 2 games are just as indicative as Highlands, but, because they didn't get absolutely ran off the field by them, that's the only game people want to point too. Sure, Beechwood has improved throughout the season, most good teams do, but, alot of that is also the result of playing much lesser competition than in the early season. It's a whole lot easier to look good against Ludlow, BBrossart, WVerona & Dayton than to look that way against the others...
