This kid is as good as it gets in high school football. With total respect to Simpson and everyone else out there Austin deserved this award. Austin can play multiple positions and is probably the best D1 prospect out on the field. He is a great kid and is really down to earth. You might think because his dad is big time that he would be and that's the complete opposite. I have run into him a few times and he has always been very nice. As for Mr. Football I don't think he wil win it because he did miss too many games and there are other great player in the State that may deserve it. One of my high school teammates won this award a few years back and its a fun little banquet. You get to meet and eat lunch with Paul and pick his brain a little. If it hasn't changed it's also the same day as the Johnny Unitas award dinner. We were lucky enough to go to both so Austin should have a blast and enjoy every minute of it.

 

:thumb: Austin puts the team ahead of all his accomplishments and if you told him next year, you need a punter he would be out there everyday finding a way to do that too. He is just a gifted athlete with a fantastic work ethic. He did have a few injuries this year, but that is the sport and many times he fought right through them. I will tell you this what makes him special is the way that handles himself off the field. I can only hope that my boys will represent themselves as such a class act. Skill which he has, heart and determination. Parents have done a fantastic job raising their kids right!

If Austin missed 4 games, he'll still play in 11 games which is more than a full seasons worth for most teams in KY. Unless you count most of the games he played, he only played 1/2 the game due to "mercy" on the opponents...so I guess, yes, he hasn't played enough to earn ANY awards! Sheeesh!

I guess I'm the only one that is going to be real here. Great kid. Great Family.

Tremendous talent. But his numbers aren't there this year. Why all the accolades for a kid that hasn't played a lot of D this year and is in the wrong offensive position for what ever reason. Should have stayed at receiver. Numbers aren't there for running back all state or any other offensive awards and as far as Defensive he has been hurt and hasn't played a great deal.

Austin was asked to play 3 different positions in 3 different yrs to help his team win. Results, 2 State Championships, and well, in 2 more weeks you can probally be able to add to the number above. He has given his team every chance in the game to win and win big at any venue. Great Kid, and I am voting for him for Mr. Football and he deserves every vote he gets. :thumb:

As a parent, it's great to hear comments like this about a young man. I followed his father when he played pro ball and now see him on T.V, yet these statements do say so much about his family. This man will be successful in whatever he decides to do in life. Congratulations on this award.
