I don't think Notre Dame can afford another bad coach. They need to bring in the guy now.

 

Whoever comes in though will be successful next year cause of how talented they will be.

 

Unless a coaching change causes Clausen and Tate to opt for the NFL, something they could do anyway. Also while the skill positions appear to be loaded next year, they lose 4 starters on the OL.

Someone not really getting much press, but doing a heck of a job is Dave Wandstedt (sp?). He's an NFL guy, he can recruit extremely well and he's a great X's and O's coach. He wasn't very successful with the Dolphins, but that would be my choice if I couldn't get Urban Meyer or Brian Kelly.

 

As a ND fan I would be completed disappointed if Wanstache would be hired as HC.

Coming into the year, many ND fans expected that the Irish would end up at either 10-2 or 9-3. While nobody expected Navy to be one of those loses, if they Irish win out expectations can still be met, and I believe Charlie could save his job. That being said, I do not think that it is likely that the Irish win out, but it is still possible. I pretty sure ND has to play @ Pitt and @ Stanford both of which games could very easily be loses.

 

If Weis finishes 8-4, I would not be upset if he is let go. 7-5 should be automatic at this point. If the alumni have money to put up billboards, they can come up with the buyout.

 

However, I do not feel that simply losing to Navy is grounds to fire Weis. If you watched the game ND had multiple turnovers in the red zone, otherwise the outcome might have been different. You can blame the coach because a player fumbles. That being said the loss has certainly put him on the hotseat, but if he wins out, with the improvement in the offense, I think that he should get some more time.

There are 3 names and write this down: Meyer, Kelly or Gruden. If you want someone else, root for them to get one of the domino effect jobs. One of these three will be the coach in South Bend. My order is Meyer, Kelly then Gruden.

Look at their recruiting classes, they bring in top 15 after top 15 classes. Weis just can't do anything with it. Give it to BK and he would win the ship.

I think he'd be alright. Rich Rod brings in southern speedsters and Meyer is a way bigger name than him. Notre Dame recruits nationally, which in theory means that they could potentially get the fastest players in the country, if headed by the right coach.

I posted that I thought that Gruden would be a bad fit for Notre Dame, and you said he was on their list. I'm not doubting that at all. For some reason I just don't see him as a Notre Dame type coach. Gillispie was obviously a bad choice for UK, and I feel Gruden would be the same for the Irish.

What? I don't know what to make of that comment... Are you saying that Tate, Floyd, Clausen, Rudolph, Teo, etc. are all overrated coming into ND?
