October 5, 200916 yr Sounds a lot like UK hoops, eh? You'll get no arguement from me on that, although I think that UK hoops has been more relevant on a national level much more recently than Notre Dame football truly has been.

October 5, 200916 yr :puke:Michigan Michigan State, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, you get the idea….. Miami Florida USC Florida State LSU
October 5, 200916 yr I only hate 3 teams in college football... 1. Florida. They are #1 on my hate list, and nothing will ever change that. Terrible fan base that acts like they're doing things that the U and FSU could only dream about. Yeah Right. 2. Ohio State- I'll never forgive them for the MNC game in '02. 3. Virginia Tech- They have Miami's number. I actually like many of their players, they just seem to always beat us.
October 5, 200916 yr Easy for many. 1966 "the tie" vs. Michigan State. Deliberately tied knowing that they had one more game to play and ran it up on USC to sway the voters and nothing MSU could do about it. 1977 Beat Texas in Cotton Bowl and kept throwing to run up a 38-10 win. Then leapfrogged a better Alabama team to claim the title. How many times did they get a major bowl only to lose? Schedule is never that tough IMO and scattered Michigan, USC and some other good team out amongst service academies and regional teams. I'm not saying their not great, just that for some there is plenty to hate. Notre Dame is probably second on my list, and that's why. That and the fact that they often seem to get selected for bowl games where they're clearly out of their league; at the expense of more deserving teams.

They've been relevant just as many times as UK basketball in this decade, Notre Dame made a couple of deep post season runs making it to BCS Bowls, but we both know they weren't capable of beating the best teams in the country, almost like UK's made a couple of Elite 8 runs but couldn't have close to beating the teams that made the title game over this most recent decade. If anything, they're pretty much the same program, both were very good until 1998 and then they dropped off, they got the hype because of the name on the fronts of their jerseys, but more times than not, it was unwarranted.
October 5, 200916 yr 1 "THE" Ohio State Most overrated team in college football every single year. Repeated emabarassing appearances in the Nat'l Championship! 2 Notre Dame second most overrated team in college football. 3 Florida 4 USC
October 5, 200916 yr They had trouble running the ball and Joe Montana was the QB. They had to keep moving the ball to keep a pretty solid RB off the field for the Longhorns, ... I believe his name was Earl Campbell! Actually that game (loss ) is engraved in my memory. Notre Dame actually had two runners that went over a 100 yards that day (Jerome Heavens and Vegas Ferguson). No, that was Dan Devine being Dan Devine and it worked in fooling the pollsters to pick them over an Alabama team that was 11-1 and had trashed a 9-2 Ohio State team something like 38-6. :thumb:
