My daughter is a freshman at Bellarmine. It is very nice.

 

Obviously she's only been there a couple of weeks, but any regrets at all so far?

I was actually at Berea for a semester, I am sure there are people on here that could tell you of the experience I had. A good thing about Berea is that you get a 24,000 dollar scholoarship every year. That money goes a LONG way and is very nice. The college itself wasn't for me. It depends on the type of person you are.

Very liberal in every way imaginable, that 24K comes with working in broom factories, pottery barns, etc for exchange of funds, but the campus is nice.

If you don't mind going out of state a great school is Tusculum College. My daughter and son-in-law graduated from there. It's in Greenville TN. about 25 miles west of Johnson City. The unique thing about is, that you take one class at a time for 18 days. Then you have a 4 day break and take another class. You only have to concentrate on one class at a time, instead of 15-18hrs per semester.

 

Very unique, how long are the classes each day. Seems like this would be a great set up for any athletes there.

I would say Georgetown. It's only 45 minutes away.

As far as small schools, I personally love Georgetown, but its really expensive. I wanna go there but can't figure out where to get the money to go there. I also really liked Lindsey Wilson when I toured there.

With a Trustees scholly, KEES, quite a bit of music scholarship money and a little need-based money, the G'town cost for us runs around $13K. Reduce that by $6K if accepting student loans.

 

Lindsey was an option for us as long as the Begley scholarship was a possibility - probably the best scholarship offered by any school in the Commonwealth. Our daughter made it to the final 11, but not the final three (that's how many were ultimately awarded). Additionally, she simply preferred to stay a little closer to home.

Centre College in Danville. 2 1/2 hours from you, beautiful contained campus, outstanding academics. I went there and found the small college atmosphere to be perfect.

 

... except for the lack of available alcohol.

I got my degree from Murray State and loved every minute of my time there. Very small school field. The campus isn't spread out and have built 2 VERY nice dorms. Very good school and I believe its still ranked as a consumer best buy.

Nail on the head. I was a city boy going down there and had no clue was I was getting into:lol:.

Outside the state but not too far away I'd have to recommend Belmont University in Nashville TN.

We went for a visit to Hanover this summer it is really nice.

I will echo the thoughts of Einstein and Raiderbird....Hanover is beautiful. While you're on campus, you're pretty much tucked away in your own little neighborhood, so you don't have to worry too much about the "outside world". However, if you do need something, Madison has got everything and it's only 5 minutes away. Truly the best of both worlds.
