September 20, 200917 yr Most college parties have girls... Not like the KD's or Chi O's of MSU. I didn't need to be Greek to do well in school. I graduated with Cum Laude honors and a 3.57 GPA. No one said you did.
September 20, 200917 yr Yeah but being on a sports team didn't cost me a dime. It actually saved me money. Well not everyone has that ability but good for you :thumb:
September 20, 200917 yr Most college parties have girls... The fraternity ones that I went to had more and hotter ones. I had tons of friends in them and I was always accepted wherever even though I wasn't a member of any. I met a lot of cool guys that were greek and also I loved them sorority girls.
September 20, 200917 yr For those on the outside looking in can't really ever understand it. I fought the urge to join for 2 years thinking it was "paying for friends." I'm an alum of Sigma Chi at Murray State, and I hung out with those guys before I joined and we were friends and I got to go to the parties, my gf at that time was in a Sorority. Eventually, I just said, why not? Best decision I ever made. I made some life long friendships and if I ever get married, those are the guys that will be in my wedding. I get to go back twice a year and catch up with those guys on Brothers Day and Homecoming and its so much fun to just tell old stories of the crazy things we saw. For those that say, "I made plenty of friends not being in a "frat", how many of those do you still keep up with and talk to regularly or go see twice a year at your old dorm (aside from the friends you had in high school)? Yea I would have still been friends with the Sigs had I never joined. Would I still hang out with them? Probably not because the bond you make going thru pledging and experiencing with all the time you spend with them is something that can't truly be understood by those on the outside looking in. I had fun prior to joining but, but not near as much as after I joined. It was more than just the parties too, you got a huge support system, you learn time management, someone always has your back. I could call anyone of those guys for the most part and they'd be here to help me doing anything. Always Proud to be a Sigma Chi! I'm in the band, and can say the exact same things....
September 20, 200917 yr I can promise you that being Greek at my school opened up many doors that would have never been opened for me if I didn't join (Of coarse I could have still partied, met females, got drunk, played intramurals, and made friends)... But I also easily became the VP of SGA (where I learned a lot about life), met the man who will be my lawyer for life, found a job right out of college, developed professionally (more than the best of college courses ever could have gave me), and provided me a future and opportunities that I may have never had and etc. If all you want from a fraterntity is friends, parties, and females...then of course you shouldn't join. But if you want more and help in getting a step up in the corporate world, then you are foolish for not joining. 85% of the CEO's of the top 500 organizations in the USA are Fraternity men. Say what you want about "joining a frat", but if you do it for the right reasons (as I feel I did) and you develop as much as I have, you will become more successful than you ever could have even imagined. You will become more than just a guy who went to class and then left school. *Stepping off my soap box*
September 20, 200917 yr I played baseball at NKU, and unless things have changed since I was there the Greek life was nothing special to say the least. All I remeber about the Frats at NKU is that they had these benches with the letters of each fraternity on them and only they could sit on them. Other than that you never seen much of them because NKU is such a commuter school that all the houses were off campus. This was seven years ago so things might have changed since then, but looking back there is no way I would have ever wanted to join. Too much fun partying with the teams that stayed on campus. Softball, Volleyball, and Womens tennis sudenly became my favortite sports once I got to college. Those parties on campus (which I thoroughly enjoyed as well as a freshman) have been completely shut down. Campus has gotten so strick on campus drinking compared to 4-7 years ago...definitely not the same anymore.

September 20, 200917 yr The fraternity/sorority crowd just isn't for me. But I've seen plenty of very hot non sorority girls. Sure there are, but usually not a collection of a bunch like a sorority would have. I'm not going to discriminate against hot sorority girls

September 20, 200917 yr ^Of course. I'm just saying I understand why people join them and why those who do often never regret it. Those who think it is simply "paying for friends" are either blind or extremely simple minded.

Campus has gotten so strick on campus drinking compared to 4-7 years ago...definitely not the same anymore. Hate to hear that. I know when I went you never saw any campus cops at all. Guess times have changed. Saint4: If the same bar is still there right above the baseball field I would advise that you atleast try to make one visit to check it out. I don't know if it is even still there or if it is even still the same. When I went that was the one place that athlets and greeks all got along and just shot pool and drank pitchers. When or if you find out let me know. PM if you want to.:thumb:

September 20, 200917 yr Never wanted to join a frat. I have nothing against those who do. I have plenty of friends who are in feats though.
