  1. That's actualy exactly where it came from. Back then playesr didn't want to realize they didn't have it anymore so it took them forever to actually retire. Owners of teams realized this and let the players become managers because since they had been around so long they in turn had alot of knowledge about the game. Instead of just giving them the boot they let them be managers/players, hence the wearing of the uni's.
  2. Its actualy not a rule. Its more of one of the "unwritten" rules of baseball. The only manager to ever not wear a uniform was Connie Mack. He liked suits so that is what he wore, plus he never left the dugout. The reason managers wear the uniform is, like someone stated earlier, they are actually part of the game once they enter onto the field of play.
  3. I personaly have no clue as to who the "big name" could be that is just the way it was told to me as well. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.....:idunno:
  4. Heard 16 people have applied for the Greenup job so far. One of the applicants I guess is a very big name but the board is keeping it hush hush because I guess there is a large amount of money involved if the deal goes down.
  5. Funny thing is all three of these coaches have been "run off". Only at Greenup would or could something like this happen. If Fraley wants the job let him keep it. It don't matter if they hired Calipari, if certain kids didn't get to see the floor then he would be ran off too. Fraley has done a fine job coaching under the kind of microscope that Greenup has for its basketball program (:idunno:). As someone said in an earlier post, if they are going to rehire make it somebody who, like Copely, is not from around here.
  6. Yeah, that is the reason why Greenups field looks the way it does and Racelands......well.......:eyeonyou:
  7. Only reason I even asked this question is because Orton is by far my favorite player on the team and would hate to see him leave early or even worse transfer. Just seems when he is in the game UK plays with more heart and fire.
  8. Heard that coach Cal said after the game last nite that Orton had a decision to make after the season. Surely he is not going to go pro or transfer? Only reason I ask these question is because I feel that Orton has the potential to be one of the better players to ever play at Kentucky if sticks around for atleast 2 more years. Anybody no of these rumors and if there is any truth to them?
  9. This all depends on your age and what position you play. I played outfield all through high school and college and never had a problem with lifting during the season. If your are a dedicated lifter and stretch religiously the soreness should not be an issue as surely your body has adjusted to the riggers of training and competing.
  10. "Gin n Juice" remade by Phish (not really Phish but thats who everybody thinks remade it).
  11. I played one year at Shawnee State before transfering to NKU. Was on the same team as Coach Tom. Great person and even better coach, dude really knows his stuff. Piper is in good hands with Ted Tom as a head coach.
  12. If it is 90% luck then why even race? Then 48, 24, 5, 9, 14, must all be very lucky then because they always seem to be running up front. 88 on the other hand always seems to be in the back. I'm not saying it is always his fault but one way or the other, wreck, blown motor, loose wheels, broken axle, speeding down pit lane, or missing his pit box he always seems to be slipping back. Yesterday just drove the point home because he started on the pole fell back and never came close again.
  13. I too am a JR fan, but I myself am starting to wonder just how good he really is. He started on the pole yesterday, had the fastest car in the field, and managed to lead as many laps as I did yesterday....ZERO! I don't know what his problem is, but as someone stated earlier, he is on the best team with the best equipment and is 13th in points. If he was as good as I thought and and half as good as everyone thinks he is. He should be able to muster more than one win in his last 100 and sum races. Just sayin....:idunno:
  14. VILL +5.5 KAN -2.5 LAK ML NIAGARA -1.5 Still looking at hockey. Probably going to go with SJ and NJ
  15. WOW!! You are killing the NHL. I would like to know your system. I just bet the moneylines and I am like 8-3. You know how moneyline bets are though so I'm only up like $10. Do you do moneyline or ATS? Any system you care to share?:sssh:
  16. The Saints couldnt stop the Vikes on their last two drives, but the Vikes stopped the Saints. How do explain that? It was in regulation but it was still stops.
  17. I guess I see both point of views, but in games such as this where neither team is really stoping the other why should the team that lost the toss be punished? I'm about 99% sure that if Minn would have won that toss they would have won the game just as the Saints did. I just think it should be left on the field not the flip of a coin.
  18. What are your feelings? Not calling you out or anything but I just want to know where other BGP's stand on this. I think this game could have went the way of the OSU vs MIA game had the rules allowed it.
  19. The sudden death overtime? This is starting to get a little out of hand that the team that wins the toss is the "better" team. This game could have been a thousand times better than it already was if they went by the college rules. Not saying the better team didnt win, but the Vkes didnt even have a chance to prove themselves which has been the case twice so far (Pack/Cards).
  20. Same here. I bowled a 270 as a 15 year old. I'm now 27 and am lucky if I break 150.
  21. Might want to go ahead and open up that right elbow while there at it. Say what they want but anybody who has watched the Bengals during the Palmer era knows that his arm is not the same. No accuracy and zero deep ball threat.
  22. Yes. Wise choice he made going with the shaved head. Not that it looks like he had much choice.
