If there were as much racial animosity in reality as the accusations present, President Obama would have never come close to being elected. Carter pulling the race card, because an agenda he backs is failing due to the reality of politics, is weak at best.

 

I've always respected President Carter as a good man that got in over his head. Statements like this take away from that respect. Maybe it's his own racism, and his guilt of it, fueling his remarks.

If you want to bring it in as relevant, that's one thing. But besides Hatz, no one has done anything except try to discredit Carter, without supporting why they think he's wrong.

You need look no further than our last president to find one worse than Carter.

While I agree that Bush had a rough beginning with 9/11 and subsequent economic mess, but I would say some other presidents recently had just as bad or worse of a mess they walked into.

 

* Gerald Ford became President because the last Exec resigned in disgrace.

 

* Reagan inherited double digit inflation and a Malaise.

 

* Roosevelt came into the White House in the middle of the greatest economic mess in the Nation's history.

 

I won't even go into the 19th century and mention what Lincoln walked into.

 

IMO, some of the Bush mess was what was inherited and some was self-inflicted.

Equally, racism played a role in the vote. Otherwise we wouldn't have had the term "black vote". Not to mention the innumerable # of interviews with african americans who plainly voted for Obama because of race and no other reason. So, hard to pull the race card when it's convenient in assigning blame.

Every President from Clinton on, will not be heralded as a good President regardless of what they do, there is too much media and it allows the public too much information on subjects that they rarely understand, therefore, basing their opinions on crap and either liking or disliking someone based on race, party, experience, etc. The Presidency is a No Win Situation this day in time.

I'm going to try to answer this delicately to keep from getting you fired up. I think that he is frustrated at what he believes were lies from our President regarding the health care bill.

 

This is not an excuse for his behavior or an indication on whether Rep. Wilson was right or wrong in the idea that President Obama is lying, just an explanation of what he was frustrated about- what he perceived to be lies. If his perception is wrong (which will boil down to a matter of opinion, most likely) then that doesn't make him a racist.

I would put Lincoln's ahead of anyone but other then that it's hard to argue against the economic mess, 9/11, then Katrina.
