I remember a game SK played at Campbell County a few years ago and the PA Announcer would get the "D-Fence" chant going like every other play, and he would literally be screaming into the microphone up in the booth. It's like he thought the speakers weren't going to work or something.

3 of my brother-in-laws played for the Camels and they even think he's annoying.

Greg Rose is the football PA guy. He was such a change from the previous, put you to sleep guy, that he was actually a breath of fresh air for Camel fans.

As a former PA guy for 10 years at TMC and a radio guy for 5, let me speak for support staff everywhere, that it's demoralizing to read about the game afterwards online and discover that not only are you part of the story, but you ARE the story because people did not think you are very good at what you do. I support Greg Rose and he should be appreciated more for his service. Don't change a thing Greg. You are a very good PA guy. Congrats Colonel players on your first win of the year. Congrats to Coach Wirth and his staff on the first of many, many wins you'll celebrate here at CovCath. I'm sure your Dad was proud to be on the field with you.

Congrats to Coach Wirth and the Colonels on their first win. They have a very good coaching staff and the guys seem to be responding. Definitely the right man for the job. Big plays by Erpenbeck, nice game for Connelly and Beau Geisen. The spread offense opens up some options for them. The "D" played well ; big games by Deglow, Martin, and Garnick. Any news on the

Thank you Campbell County High School. For the past 8 years every time 9/11 rolls around my day has been filled with horrible memories of the planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. It's been about the thoughts of losing over 3000 lives to terrorists. From now on 9/11 will still be about remembering those things, but they will be joined by one of the most patriotic tributes I have ever been a part of. Excluding the win CovCath enjoyed, it was the most remarkable Friday night football event in my life. The colors being presented, the American flag being lifted on the ladder of the fire engine from the Alexandria Fire Dept. One of the most incredible renditions of the national anthem I've ever heard and by a Campbell County english teacher. The flag being raised and then lowered to half staff. The 21 gun salute by I think the VFW. Taps being played and finally the helicopter fly over. The atmosphere orchestrated at by the Campbell County High School support staff made us all proud to Americans. Thank you for all your efforts in providing us all with some famous memories on this infamous date.

He must still be in grade school if he thinks so childishly. I can't stand PA announcers that think they are part of the night's entertainment. PA announcers are unnecessary to begin with, but if there is going to be one, just calmly announce what is going on and leave it at that. No one comes to high school football games for the PA announcers.:madman:

Witty? Hmm.

 

"Colorful, witty" = home team's perception

"annoying, overdone, distracting" = visitor's (and most everyone else's)perception

 

I've only been to Campell County for Dixie games, and I read these same things every year. Does he get into it moreso than some other announcers, yes. However, I've never thought the guy was over the top or annoying.

If you watched the LexCath and LaSalle games CovCath did as good of a job of beating themselves, as did LexCath or LaSalle did in beating them.

The CovCath "D" did a better job than I thought they would and the only play that CovCath beat themselves on was the poor snap, but to me the play of the game was when the Camels were driving (on around the 35) with 4th and 5 and they had the QB quick kick the ball. The punt went a total of 10 yards. Just surprised the heck out of me they would punt there as it did the CCYFL coaches that were sitting near us!

 

For those who are wondering about the two missed PAT's and CovCath not going for a FG near the end of the first half, well the CovCath PK is a starter on the CovCath soccer team and the team is in Ashland playing a game!

 

BTW Clyde is correct, CovCath has to open up the offense to more than Erpenbeck running the ball.

BTW isn't there some kind of rule about bands playing while the other team has the ball?

 

The Campbell County band was practicing literally behind the end-zone that CovCath was driving to and they kept on playing even while CovCath was trying to snap the ball. Talk about a lack of sportsmanship.!

 

Now I have no problem with the band playing in the stands or even the fans screaming and yelling, but the band was quite literally right behind the end-zone.

I too thought the pre-game 9/11 ceremony was great and thanks to Campbell County for recognizing all facets of military and public sevice. I was impressed and proud to have served. Thanks and "Semper Fi". JD
