No offense to the Elder faithful, and this game could have been an off game for them on a short week, but the 2007 X team is leaps and bounds better than them.

 

Rocks are starting to show some toughness which will mold into the foundation for a state run. The youngsters are getting baptized by fire.

 

Elder is not the #3 team in the country...not even close.

I am a Highlands fan and I am not looking forward to what St X is going to do the the Birds in 2 weeks. The game will be a blowout and unfortunately it will be in front of a national television crowd. If Highlands can match Trinity's showing against the Bombers, it will be a huge moral victory. They are a decent team but nowhere near a great team as was predicted in the pre-season. Again, I am a Highlands fan. But I am also a realist.

 

After watching Cinn. X tonight all I can say is that it will be a huge size advantage that the Birds will face.

This goes to show that yes, Kentucky has a couple teams who can go into Ohio and play in a game and maybe make a slight game of it for a half, but overall it is just a different level.

I used to think that Highlands had a very good shot in that game. Clearly I bought into all the preseason hype and that was a mistake. Plus, this Bomber squad was certainly "flying under the radar" and this was their coming out party.

Trinity's offense will get better as the QB gains experience and it has to get better quick to have any chance to keep next week's game within 4 TDs. Too many sacks, turnovers and penalties to be competitive with a solid team (no matter if its Elder or anyone else). LBer play needs to improve as does overall tackling in order to earn #20. Trinity's getting there and the payoff will be when we return to playing Kentucky 6A teams who are nowhere close to the level of Elder and Cincy St. X this year.

T gets ahead of Lawrence North and then gives up 31 straight. They shut out Manual, then get ahead of Cincy Elder and then give up 26 straight. It seems that T gets worn down against good teams starting about midway though the second quarter. Having said this, I think T showed improvement. When Kragthorpe returns, they will have two good QBs. #2-Mellilo-is one tough player. No one ever said this year would be easy. Defense needs more work than offense, IMO.

They way some of, not all of, the Elder faithful were talking, they should have beat us by 60 (words of some fans not mine). This contest was won rightly by Elder, but Trinity hung in there and played tough. The key injuries, illnesses hurt, but you'll not hear excuses from us. We lost and we'll see you all again next year at The Rock...now lets go get #20

Impressvie setting - obviously a well established recognized program. T had no fear wading into such environs. We were not embarassed. Others above have pointed out where improvement needs to be shown. Last night was another block in the foundation of this new edition. Keep growing and learning. It will pay off when it counts. That is something to build upon. I would not underrate it. Trinity is playing the toughest schedule in the state of KY I would bet.

It clearly was. And as I watched I could not help but think it had to be highly "educational" for those T kids to go into that sort of atomsphere and compete. No where else - around here - could such be found or duplicated.
