I will be interested to hear what team (Elder or Cinn. X) the T fans thinks was the best Ohio team.

Because I've seen enough football this year that I can name 10 teams within a 500 mile radius that I think would beat Elder, let alone the whole nation.

 

I just am not that impressed with them. I think they will lose at least once during the regular season, maybe twice, and I don't think they have what it takes to win a state title in Ohio.

 

Of course, I could be completely off my rocker but it's my opinion so I'm sticking to it. :idunno:

If you can find 10 teams within a 500 mile radius of Price Hill that would beat Elder, I'd be stunned. I know that's a lot of area with some good football, but Elder is better than you think.

 

500 miles encompasses a good sweep of talent. It is possible.

I was at the game and have the following observations

 

1. The score was closer than I expected, and Trinity did score after a turnover deep in Elder territory. Elder's place kicker is top shelf, rumored to be interested in becoming a Bearcat.

2. Trinity had pretty many fans there, a good group of knowledgeable fans. A Trinity mom sitting near me won $3900 in the split-the-pot drawing.

3. The spectator with the medical condition died on the scene from an apparent heart attack. Prayers for him and his family.

4. The PIT looked great, but the crowd may have been down a bit.

5. Elder fans wore t-shirts that said "The Westside goes Worldwide" in the same font as ESPN logo. Pretty neat shirt from the Colerain game.

6. I was disappointed in not seeing the Kragthorpe kid play.

7. It was apparent to me that Elder was going to win when they took the field for the second half. Trinity looked beaten. Trinity players were not nearly as lively or vocal and several had heads hanging down during halftime warmups, compared to pre-game.

8. Elder won this game in the trench. Trinity line play deteriorated as the game went on.

9. What did Trinity fans think of the PIT?

I was impressed with the Pit. From what I had gleaned from the posts on BGP, I was expecting the Pit to be in a much more depressed area of town. While the neighborhood is not in a brand new area of town, I thought it had a good feel and old city character to it. In Louisville, the Catholic schools draw from all areas of the city. I got the impression that in Cincy that you kind of stay in your own neighborhood and atttend your neighborhood school. The Pit itself is a nice stadium. I liked the old school buildings (circa 1922, I believe). As visitors, we were treated respectfully.

The traffic and parking were not as bad as I expected. One thing I liked about the Elder students is that they cheered for their team without resorting to berating and ridiculing the opposition--which has has been done by other Cincy schools. Class act.

 

I agree---Trinity did not come out strong the second half, letting Elder make a long drive to open the second half and another one in the 4th quarter. T needs, IMO, to devlop some leadership, which I think will happen. Elder actually scored 6 times--2 TDs and 4 FGs.

 

I trust that Trinity will be more competitive in the next few years.

 

One question I have, though, is how is it that the Sheriff's helicopter can be used to fly people to midfield right berfore kickoff? Whatever happende to separation of church and state?

My guess is the pilot is an Eder alum.

It was w/o question the best H.S. football atmosphere I've been in, truly a first class event, & the home fans were very gracious hosts. My complaint w/ the neighborhood was it's lack of bars & restaurants in walking distance to the stadium. I saw one bar & it had a Members Only sign on it...

There used to be many more bars around Price Hill, but there are a few nice neighbohood pubs still. You missed a nice place called "Crow's Nest" at the corner of W 8th St. and Nebraska Ave. There's also a place at the corner of W 8th St and Sunset, but I think it shnaged names. It used to be the Sunset Lounge, and then Murphy's I think. If you get back to the Hill, check those out.
