I love the spin from the Trinity faithful. "We held them to only two touchdowns". LOL! Yeah but they still scored 6 times on you.

 

Most players and coaches would consider holding the #3 ranked team in the COUNTRY to only 2 TDs and forcing 4 FGs a strong point to grow on. Trinity will look back at their early season schedule as strength when they make a run for another state title. Holding ANY team out of the endzone on your side of the field is a positive. Congrats to Trinity! You showed your heart and toughness tonight. Good luck the rest of the way.:thumb:

Whatever the reasons, we had our opportunities tonight. It's not like we were flattened. All the reasons that Elder/X/ets is/most often will be better than Trinity & X (especially) are immaterial. If we want to be the best, we need to play the best. Sometimes we will win. No team is invincible, so we like to play to see if we can be the David to their Goliath.

 

As much as I want the team to win, I want the team to play competition that challenges them and will help them improve. I think Coach Beatty has done a great job in doing this year in and year out. We may not have beaten Elder, but I (speaking only for myself) saw a lot to be positive about.

St. X was down last year. And in 02 it was the Brian Brohm show, a once in a life time player (although it was a very impressive win). I'm not sure even at full strength Trinity competes year in year out with the Ohio big boys.

 

But we, the Kentucky schools, should keep on trying and perhaps some day we will break the barrier... and earn some respect nationally. Until then, we will be on the short stick of D-1 recruits from the bluegrass state.

I disagree and I follow a lot of OH football even without Brohm T or X could beat OH teams on almost any given year. They are solid programs. I just don't think outside of T, X, Highlands there is a chance.

Highlands would barely be a top ten team in the Cincinnati area overall.

Absolutely Trinity/St. X should keep playing the Cincy and Indy big boys. They've outgrown the state of Kentucky and if they want to see what they need to work, they will have to play teams from Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee.

I mean't the big 5. And your right we are going to agree to disagree. T or X would do no worse than Moeller in the GCL and would get their shots in at Elder and X. Trinity lost a lot of good football players last year.

 

Trinity OR X may not be in the top 5 but they would be in the 10,15,20.

Very fair statement.

I'm sure that Trinity can bounce back from this one, it's not a devastating loss, considering the opponent, but it's a loss nonetheless.

 

I certainly hope they can do it.

No offense to the Elder faithful, and this game could have been an off game for them on a short week, but the 2007 X team is leaps and bounds better than them.

 

Rocks are starting to show some toughness which will mold into the foundation for a state run. The youngsters are getting baptized by fire.

I am a Highlands fan and I am not looking forward to what St X is going to do the the Birds in 2 weeks. The game will be a blowout and unfortunately it will be in front of a national television crowd. If Highlands can match Trinity's showing against the Bombers, it will be a huge moral victory. They are a decent team but nowhere near a great team as was predicted in the pre-season. Again, I am a Highlands fan. But I am also a realist.
