September 11, 201115 yr Just finished reading "Up Country" by Nelson DeMille. First of his novels I've read, and it was pretty good. A bit long at 849 pages, but it was interesting and easy to read.
September 12, 201115 yr Just finished the first book in the Mistborn trilogy. It's by the same author who finished the Wheel of Time series. I must say outside of Game of Thrones, this is one of the best opening books to a series I think I have ever read. If your a fantasy fan like myself I highly recommend it.
September 27, 201114 yr "The Claw of the Conciliator," second book in Gene Wolfe's "Book of the New Sun" series. Great sci-fi/fantasy saga so far.
September 27, 201114 yr Read three by Harlan Coben - Deal Breaker, Promise Me (both are Myron Bolitar books) and Gone For Good. I picked up a huge box of old Hardy Boys hardbacks at a yard sale this weekend and there were four old "Mercer Boys" books included. I guess they were Hardy Boys wannabes. I'm reading them for no other reason than I like to read and watch/listen to TV at the same time. However, the writing in these is atrocious. To wit: The boys entered the quiet but homelike little house which was their home and prepared for lunch. "Well, what have you two been doing this morning?" asked Mr. Mercer, as he vigorously attacked a piece of steak. One more: He awoke much refreshed and drank copiously, realizing for the first time in his long life just how good water could be. Another lone meal followed and he spent the evening with another book, sitting under the oil lamp until it was nearly time to go to bed. Then, enchanted with the fine moonlight, the Professor went out on the front porch to smoke a final pipe before retiring.
September 27, 201114 yr Just finished A Failure of Capitalism: the Crisis of '08 and the Descent into Depression by conservative judge Richard Posner. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a thorough, even-handed, and succinct account of the financial crisis and resulting depression. I'm about a quarter of the way through Confidence Men: Wall Street, Washington, and the Education of a President by Ron Suskind which is a behind-the-scenes account of Obama's economic policy and leadership and has proven quite controversial since its release.
September 27, 201114 yr I just finished the 2nd Brad Thor book I've read in about 3 weeks. Onto #3. Anyone read Brad Thor? I try to ignore the fact that he's right with Glen Beck. Very good read.

The days in the raft are only the beginning of the journey. Almost through with "Too Big to Fail" Story of Collapse of the Financial system and the Governments efforts to save it.
