The Birds will see a different Beechwood team that played last week at Nippert. A homer will bring out the defending Champs they are. Birds defense is gel'n though, improving week to week. DBs on both sides will be challenged throughout the night. The determinants will be what strength the D-lines and LBs bring. Both teams will play tough all four quarters.

If the birds want to keep winning,they need to work on the passing game.I just think they have had too many dropped passes that should have been caught. I don't know if they have even attempted to throw it to the tight end(whomever that may be).It seems that last year that the tight end was a huge weapon for the birds. (JMO) :idunno:

Haven't studied the rosters, but I'd guess a large size advantage by Highlands, and they have speed to burn. Doubt the 'Birds will try to run it up, so the score may not truely reflect the mismatch.

Beechwood's starting offensive line goes 237, 230, 202, 202 and 200 and that is being a little generous IMO. Smallest line at Beechwood in quite a while. There are only 7 players on the 50 man roster over 205 and none over 237. I think Beechwood really needs to go to no two way players on the line to be able to stay fresh at these sizes. I believe they have enough depth to do that. How does the Bluebird's line compare to that? Just a little bigger maybe?

Highlands line isn't huge except for Grubbs and Welz. Grubbs (RT) is 6'5 or 6'6 and 285 or 290 Miami (Ohio) signee. Welz is 6'5 or 6'6 (TE) and about 255 or 260..Everyone else is 6'0 - 6'2 and 220 to 230..:thumb:

I was not there but if Dale or EF Hutton speaks people listen. He has faith in his coaches he just likes to get involved. I throw my support behind the man 100%, just ask my jr football team. It is very nice to see a coach ask about kids at the younger levels. You build a program and it breeds success. Just an FYI we have plenty of boys eager and waiting to move forward up the ranks. Heck, Voice of Reason we have a couple of Fort Mitchell products as well.

At either school they would get a great education and be a part of a strong football program and tradition IMO. Perhaps I should have done a better job in expressing my thoughts. The Jr Football program in Fort Thomas is celebrating 50 years of success and it a great model of a youth league that works. Players have come through and had very successful high school football years at various high schools.

Both schools are excellent academically but Highlands offers a much broader educational experience in terms of courses offered, school activities and even sports (boys track, cross country, boys soccer). With the new fine arts center and state-of-the-art blackbox theatre and television studio, etc., it could make perfect sense for an excellent student from Fort Mitchell to consider Highlands.

Beechwood was just named the #1 high school in the state based on this year's ACT scores. There is ZERO reason for a student to choose another high school over Beechwood for academic reasons. As to the other opportunities you mention for boys soccer, track, etc., that is a valid point and I would not fault a Ft. Mitchell kid for going to Highlands for those reasons. Beechwood lost a very good freshman athlete this year that is going to Moeller because of wrestling and we wish him great success in that. Highlands is also one of the top 5 high schools in the state academically and is right there with Beechwood academically, but I would argue they are not better than Beechwood academically.

I don't think BB said better. He said there was more of a diverse choice..Beechwood and Highlands are both great academic and athletic institutions..:thumb:
