I like Lucas Witt at LCA for overall. Its really heartwrenching what happened to Senecas' great QB.

 

I am sorry but what happen to the young man form Seneca?

Since the starting thread included the entire state, here is a QB from a lowly 2A school in Western Kentucky.

 

Fort Campbell Senior QB Antonio Andrews

2008 Stats: 1771 Rushing Yards, 27 Rushing TDs / 1698 Passing Yards, 22 Passing TDs

Please reference the highlight film of the 2008 2A Championship game against NCC for documented proof of his ability against a heralded NKY football program.

 

He is a dual threat - scary good like former West Virginia QB Pat White. Made quite an impression on the coaching staff at the Vanderbilt 7 on 7 passing tournament.

 

Any serious conversation about Mr. Football in Kentucky this year should at the very least include Antonio Andrews.

I have nothing to retract. I didn't disparage the young man at all. In fact, I believe I stated that he indeed probably is "very, very good." My point is that credibility is sometimes called into question when every Highlands player is a "D-1 lock" and the next superstar QB/WR/etc.. At the end of the day, Guidugli - who was VERY highly touted on this site by the Highlands faithful - was a nice high school QB, but not "special." So for those of us unfamiliar with Bardo, I'm sure you understand that it'll help to see him firsthand and not necessarily buy the hype quite so early.

 

That being said, best of luck to you all except for two games this year. I'll let you figure out which two . . . .

 

I know what you're saying but there were also many posts that said Bardo should be starting ahead of Tony G. I am looking forward to watching Bardo play this season as I've only caught bits and pieces over the years. Should be a lot of fun.

I've never heard of a coach (especially one with several state titles) put his 2nd best player on the field instead of the best at a position. This in itself opens up another complete thread! I have a feeling at the end of the year Bardo may very well be the best QB in NKY or the state for that matter, but it is hard to rate him based on potential.

To the Highlands faithful: I'm sure this will annoy some of you, but try to look at something from an outsider's perspective. I went back through a bunch of threads from last year that touted Guidugli very, very highly. In fact, some of the same people in this thread talked him up quite a bit. A few said that he and Bardo were close, but acknowledged that Dale would absolutely pick the one with the best talent and whoever played the best to be his starter. That turned out to be Guidugli. I saw him play a couple of times last year. He was good, but he was not special. Quite a few posters declared him an absolute D-1 lock. Wasn't even going to be close. He wasn't. So now Bardo, who was apparently legitimately beaten out by Guidugli last season, is already touted as a D-1 player and one of the best QB's in the state without having ever started a varsity game? I'm going to guess he's very, very good and may be all you say and more, but I hope you understand that sometimes your past "hype" of other players hurts your credibility with ones you're currently touting. Again, no offense intended and no doubt this kid is good, but he really needs to prove himself on the field a little to be touted this highly IMO.

The Bluebird QB apparently hasn't started a big boy game and only has one TD credit in his varsity career. Don't know how that compares to Andrews and 49 combined TDs last season coupled with 3,469 yards of total offense.

Having watched him live, he should. He was easily the most dominating player that NewCath faced last year. If you lose your pass rush lanes, he's going to run for a large gain, very quickly. He is a DI athlete. He'll be a WR or DB in college.

Numbers are very deceiving. Do you ever go to the track and see where a horse has won 10 races in a row, but then look down and see the class of horses he’s been winning against. I’m sure if Bardo’s regular season schedule consists of teams with a combined total season record 46-72 as Mr. Andrew’s did last year he will put up some unfathomable numbers.

Andrews is legit. He put up huge numbers on the Breds last year in the Finals. I watched Highlands play numerous times last year, and I watched NewCath play numerous times. There is not a team in the state where Andrews would not be a star. If Andrews played at Highlands, the faithful would be touting him as a DI player along the same lines as Collinsworth. He would NOT be playing QB at Highlands, but Mueller would drool over what he brings to the field.
