I have been very impressed with Bardo; he has all the tools and weapons around him. He is as good as advertised, he has a gun and remind you of the big JLOAD; however he has excellent speed and probably the best receiving group in Highlands history. Holds the ball high, quick release and trust me IMO will be playing D1 ball. I have younger boys but watching him this year has been :scared: IMO should have been playing last year....no doubt.

I have no problem with it. IMO a QB should keep the football up under the chin at all times, whether your dropping back or rolling out. The ball should be in both hands for ball protection and it keeps proper mechanics rotation balance of shoulder and then on to proper arm momentum. To many high school qb's drop the football from under the chin to the stomach prior to throwing the football.

Yes, below the chin and slightly back towards the throwing shoulder. The ball should also be tilted at about 45 degrees away from the body, with the shoulders relaxed and slightly off the body.

I disagree about holding the ball at a 45 degree angle. That is not fundamentally sound.

 

Check out the NFL quarterbacks. They all hold the football in a similar position to Carson Palmer in the picture. Too many young kids hold the ball tilted away from their body which does not help in securing the football.

It is absolutely fundamentally sound!

 

The reason you hold the ball like this is to have your wrist "cocked" pre-pass.

Proper ball flight is achieved when the nose of the ball is elevated upon release. To achieve this these 2 things must happen.

 

1. The thumb must create a pocket for the ball to sit in, in the hand. The ball should not sit in the qb's palm.

 

2. The wrist must be "cocked." To properly set your wrist flex your hand up towards your thumb. While flexed you will notice a crease in your skin at your wrist This is the proper throwing position for you wrist. Now hold a football just below your chin slightly towards your throwing shoulder. Now tilt the ball nose away at about 45 degrees. If you look at your wrist it is now "cocked."

 

Most NFL do hold the ball in the position I described. The ones who do not the first move they make when throwing the ball is "cocking" their wrist.

 

Sometimes when analyst hear a coach say a qb has a "hitch" in their throw it is about when the set their wrist properly.

Bardo from Highlands. Big tall lefty with a cannon for an arm. I heard he out played the QB from Moeller in 7 on 7 a few weeks ago. The kid from Moeller has already signed with Notre Dame..:thumb:

Conner's West is the best qb in NKY. He is a proven and accomplished qb. We'll just have to see how well he does without his main weapon from a year ago..:idunno:

If Will Bardo can stay healthy, look for the birds to repeat in Bowling Green!! His size, arm strength, speed and supporting cast will not only propel Will into the best QB in NKy, but the top QB in the state.
