July 31, 200917 yr Though you didnt ask the opinion of older adults..... I have a 17, 19 and 20 year old and have been in your position. I have never been the overprotective sort of parent. Like most parents, I have tried to raise my children to be aware of the real world and responsible in dealing with it. For what it is worth... Your daughter is 17 and is with a group (very important) that you trust. Hopefully they all have cell phones. Your daughter is 17 and undoubtedly knows more about what is going to go on at the concert than you do. Your daughter is 17 and will likely go away to college next year where you will (trust me) have no idea what she is doing. I say you have to let those baby birds fly a bit before they take off. This would be a good opportunity. That being said, a friendly, nonjudgemental reminder of your concerns should proceed the event with an offer to come, no questions asked, if she calls. Good Luck! Let us know how it goes! I have too agree. If you trust her and her friends then leave them alone and enjoy your first sleepless night. Let her enjoy freedom and if her and her friends screw up. Then she pays the price. Kids have to be able to make there own choices and understand there is a level of punishment for bad choices.
July 31, 200917 yr My thoughts: I went to a Phish concert at Deer Creek about 5 years ago and we camped out. No comparison as to the amount of drugs at Phish show and subsequent Shakedown Street the Phish fans participate in. :lol: There will be drugs there. There will be alcohol there. I cannot vouch for the character of your daughter, but if she has a good head on her shoulders, she will be fine. It is not as if she is going to a Slayer concert. The majority of the people are very nice and just looking to have a good time, just like your daughter.

August 2, 200917 yr I was starting to think I was the only one who thought DMB was awful. I'm not a huge fan of the band, but I really like to hear Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds pair up.
