Obama's "press" conference

Then I take it you also read that the professor was yelling at the police officer outside his house in front of several witnesses and only after refusing to quiet down was he arrested. Having an ID doesn't entitle you to create a disturbance and if a police officer tells you to do something, you either do it or you go to jail. The professor chose (stupidly IMHO) door number 2.

So, you had no problem with the cop that tasered the 73 year old grandmother after refusing to sign a ticket, nearly pushing him out in traffic, and resisting arrest?

The last time I saw a leap that big I was watching the movie 'Spiderman'! Please explain how advocating doing what the cop tells you to do translates into supporting police brutality. Also note that I didn't say that the cop was always right. I said that if you refuse a police order you will be going to jail. Perhaps the order wasn't lawful and the dispute might eventually be decided in your favor but you'll be spending at least some time in police custody. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

Somebody needs to let Obama know he wasn't elected king.

He also showed his drivers license according to what I read, which I posted in my original post.

According to the police report he only showed his Harvard ID. The officer called the University Police to come to the sceen.

Gates was yelling at the cop for the word go. He was completely out of line and deserved to go to jail.

I betcha after two terms there is a push to remove the term limits.

I was going to stay out of this but my emotions have got the best of me. I agree with the President.

There is no way any other person can know how something like this makes you feel unless it has happened to them. It is a very degrading feeling.

I know because it has happened to me. It has also happened to my two sons. I thought them what to do so when it did happened they would know how to act.

You mean someone saw what they thought was a break in at your house and called the police?

The police did their job. Came to your house, in response to the call, and asked you to identify yourself?

The professor was wrong the cops were right . The professor sounds like he wanted to get arrested .

I'm interesting in knowing what you think the cop did wrong.

Had the professor not went ballistic on the police he would have never been arrested. Of course Obama conveniently left that out of his press conference.

I can't claim to have ever been in the professors shoes and I am quite sure that racial profiling is a problem. But every time the cops come around a person that isn't their race it doesn't mean there was racial profiling going on. There was a call made to police of a break in. This cop had no idea what he was going to encounter when he got there. If he goes in assuming there isn't a break in and is shot where does that leave us. His original call in said I believe I'm w/ the lawful owner of the house, but he's uncooperative. There's a lot adding up in favor of the cop. Supposedly they are going to release the 911 tapes and it will favor the cop even more.

More importantly is Obama going to address every situation like this in a press conference? Why did he have the press ask him about this on national tv if he didn't know the facts of the case? Aren't there a lot more important issues to discuss during a prime time national press conference? Is there a press any more? Or is everyone an Obama stooge?

Why did nobdy in the press ask about Afghanistan?

Wasn't the announced purpose of the press conference to cover health care?

So you think the police acted "stupidly"?

The neighbor sees two men on the porch, one is forcing his way into the house. The reason he is having to force his way into the house is the door is messed up from a previous break in. The neighbor calls the police and they come to investigate. At which point Gates makes a huge scene. After multiple warnings he is placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.

Now you tell me where the police acted "stupidly"? The President was way off on his comment, plus he never should have even said anything except "I don't know all the facts so I really can't comment on it".

.

Now you tell me where the police acted "stupidly"?

They arrested a man for argueing over an issue in which he was right.
