Many of them were on their cell phones during the games, both talking and texting and sometimes there was only one person doing both the clock and the book. I have to correct you on the last part. A lot of the clocks were opperated by remote control and the person running the clock was sometimes across the court to get a better shot at the remote sensor.

 

As for college kids talking and texting while doing anything, I wouldn't exactly call that a shock...

Yes, I noticed that it was like that at UC, but not so at Sportsville and NKU, there was oftentimes one person doing both. Yeah, texting and doing anything, but that should not be allowed, they are getting paid to do a job, and a not too difficult job at that, cell phones should be put away when they are doing the clock or keeping the book IMO.

I agree they SHOULD, but unless you have a supervisor hawking every table it's going to happen...

As on onlooker, and sitting behind some of the scorers tables, several of the book-keepers had asked the stat-keepers from different teams how many fouls they had on their books. Wow. This opens up for some major possibilities. I didnt like that. And, as you have allready stated, I saw some playing with cell phones. Unacceptable.

Shining Stars Blue U17 defeated Illinois Old School in the quarterfinals and Old Gold from Chicago in the semifinals. They play in the championship game at 8:00 A.M. tomorrow morning against the Wisconsin Playground Warriors, featuring a big 7 footer and a few other D1 commits and recruits. I believe Dakota Euton ran with this team earlier in the summer. Shelby County's Donovan Johnson and Boone County's Ryan Popp have had good tournament. Both have scored in double figures several games. Popp had 16 in the semifinal and is averaging double figures for the tournament.

 

Shining Stars White U17 with Cov Cath's Wellbrock and pickups Mitch McLeash from Ryle and Blake Bryan from Villa Madonna finished 1-3 in the tournament, but the new additions have improved this team, and I look for them to show well in Louisville along with the other SS Cincy teams.

 

Lots of mid-major and lower D1 and D2 college coaches there. Great, well run tournament, and still several good teams who aren't in Cincinnati this weekend!

You had to be the top team in your pool to play in the platinum bracket. They went 0-2 so they went to the silver.
