Ship Edwin, Homer, another solid prospect in the minors, and Dickerson to Houston Try and get Carlos Lee and an average prospect. 4 players for 2, that would be a huge addition to this team. May 4, 200917 yr Brandon Phillips would be a great hitter in the 2 hole if he could learn some discipline at the plate. I too would love to see him hitting before Votto. I agree about BP, if he had more discipline and not hit into so many dp's, he would be an idea 2 hitter. As long as Rosales is playing, I wouldn't mind seeing something like this against righties. 1. Taveres 2. Rosales 3. Votto 4. Bruce 5. Phillips 6. Nix 7. Hernandez 8. Gonzo I like how Rosales handles the bat and seems to hit to all fields, and doesn't strike out much. I guess my next concern would be, could Bruce handle hitting 4th? Nix has hit .400 against righties so far this year and deserves more PT.

Don't forget that Owings as a full time leftfielder next year is a possibility making a spot in the rotation for Homer. This was brought up by John Fay on Sports Talk this morning.

May 4, 200917 yr Yep, while the Red Sox did have Gold Glover Pedroia there in 2007 and the Phillies had Chase Utley, who is very good as well, there last season it isn't necessary. The 3 World Series winners before that had Aaron Miles, Tadahito Iguchi and Mark Bellhorn as their primary second basemen. Since Phillips isn't very good in the 4 spot and seems to have a very poor attitude I don't think it would hurt the Reds at all to include him in a trade that might bring a real middle of the order righthanded bat. That and a couple of good moves in the offseason to shore up the offense and they could contend in 2010. Ronnie Belliard was the starter for the Cardinals, Miles was the utility man that year.

But I would hate to see him get delt. If Aroyo keeps pitching well he will have a lot of teams interested. Homer Bailey still has a lot of skeptics around baseball, I would imagine. I would hate to see Brandon Phillips get moved. Not because I like him or dislike him, but he is a solid second baseman that hits well (over his career). He just isn't a clean-up hitter. Is that his fault? He doesn't make out the line-up card. He needs to be in the two whole. Jerry Hairston Jr. is not a viable second base replacement for a spot in the every-day line-up. We will all be complaining about the errors if he were and the injuries. Stubbs is a valid outfield prospect they can move, Rosales is a viable prospect right now, and if anyone would take him, I would like to see Encarnacion moved. Halladay would be a great pickup, but I don't think the Reds can get him. Dye would also be huge. Ankiel would be a good signing, but there is not chance to trade for him or Carlos Lee because the Cardinals and the Astros won't trade us a player during the course of the season in the same division (it just isn't normally done). Just to throw another name out there... What about Andruw Jones. He looks as though his swing is back. He could play left field and bat in the 4 spot at GABP.
