Who can the Reds trade to get power hitter?

Featured Replies

Somebody like Ibanez would have been a good move. He is one of those guys that flys under the radar but has lit it up in a hitter friendly park.

How about a deal for somebody like Ludwick from St Louis?

He's 30+ years old and it'd take a lot to get him. Add that to the fact that we'd be trading good young talent within the division, and I think you look elsewhere....

Not to mention, not many first place Teams trade good players to Teams trying to catch them.

Holliday is only hitting .253 thus far for the A's. I'm not sure he's the answer, although he'd definitely be an upgrade.

I wonder how interest a Edwin & Homer Bailey package would muster?

Austin Kerns!

Perfect trade in my eyes..

Edwin, Dickerson, hot prospects(Johnny Gomes or Bankston)

ship them to New York for...

Nick Swisher and David Robertson(pretty solid pitcher who could be used out of the bullpen and in some spot starts)

if New York doesn't want it, ship em to Baltimore for..

Melvin Mora and Adam Jones.

Those could be two pretty solid trades that are actually reasonable.

Dickerson, Gomes and Edwin are not hot prospects.

Jay Bruce easily has 30 HR, probably 35 HR power per season.

Baltimore isn't trading Jones for any combination on those guys.

Ludwick isn't even playing everyday. They have an overflow in the outfield.

Anybody in Minn where there are ties?

Both teams, the Yankees and Orioles, would laugh you out of the room with those proposals.

The Reds' offensive problem is as much of a lack of people on base as it is a shortage of power.

The 3 World Series winners before that had Aaron Miles, Tadahito Iguchi and Mark Bellhorn as their primary second basemen.
Yeah, the same Mark Bellhorn that Dusty benched because he didn't like his style of hitting and so that he could go with Lenny Harris at third base. And this a year after Bellhorn hit 27 homers with the Cubs and a year before he won a World Series with the Red Sox.

Of course since they're hitting .237 with runners in scoring position I think maybe their problem is just hitting in general.

Uhhhh, what? Those are far from reasonable.

Jonny Gomes is not a "hot prospect." He's been around for a while & the Reds scooped him up because they're a small market team who has to make a living off of guys like Gomes, whom other teams have essentially given up on.

Dickerson has little to no trade value. Edwin may have some value if he can produce when he gets back off the DL.
