You can. But that doesn't mean everyone else has too. I went to Indy this last week and actually cheered on the Cards. But that doesn't mean I'll ever do it again! :thumb:

Most of what I've seen is "most" UK fans being very excited about the future of the program. And most threads start out going pretty well until someone from another school chimes in with the negitive Caipari talk. How many UL fans have said, "man this is great, glad to see UK get a great Coach"? I'll go out on a limb and say 0. UK fans are excited, why cant you except that and quit being so paranoid. You took the time to make this thread, if your not un-happy or bitter, or a little worried, then why?

 

Actually, I'm on record on this board as saying it's a good thing for the UK-UofL rivalry and college hoops in general. The overall game is better and stronger when UK is among the contenders.

 

The past few years there just wasn't any sport in taking jabs at UK fans since they were all seemingly at each others' throats with all the hand-wringing over Tubby and BCG.

 

Jim Schue is scared, almost shaking in his boots....

 

Proof positive that UL fans are very worried, and they should be.

They should be scared that Rick Pitino is going to go to another school.

 

With terrible coaching performances such as Saturday's, I often wonder if it would be all that bad. I've disliked Pitino for a long time, but recognize he was what UofL needed to rebuild.

 

Its a vocal minority, the 18%, the Mullet and Meth group, whatever you want to call them. They are a contrast to the rest of us and you are completely right, its ridiculous. I can't fault the passion, but it gets very misguided. I do think it is exaggerated on this type of anonymous medium, though.

 

Man, they sure do a great job of drowning out the reasonable ones. Which is why I've always suspected the 18 percent figure was extremely conservative.

One of my best friends is a U of L fan (don't know what happened to him :lol: ) and I a Big UK fan. We go back and forth with each other all of the time. All in fun. He has had the upper hand lately. I think UK leveled the playing field a little more this week. Should be a lot of fun and should crank up the rivalry even more.

As a U of L fan, I can tell you that I'm not scared one bit. I really don't care who Kentucky or any other school hires for a coach. I hope all Kentucky schools do well. My dream is to see Louisville and Kentucky play each other for a national championship.

I've probably seen this one pop up three dozen times over the past three days. I've also seen another variation along the lines of "all of college basketball is shaking in their boots." And it gets funnier each time. And we're supposed to believe that most Wildcat fans aren't arrogant as hell, and that they're not completely dismissive of each and every other college team? Sort of reinforces my belief that most UK fans aren't really college hoops fans; just UK fans.

Seems like some people think it's "cool" to hate/disagree/taunt Wildcat fans on this site. I think it's old, really.

Basically, that is what Greg Doyel said in his article. I don't agree with it as there is too much parity anymore for any team to just dominate the landscape they way UK did for portions of Rupps time or UCLA did in Wooden's run of 10 titles. It ain't gonna happen.

 

I also don't believe UL is afraid of anyone, and they shouldn't be with what Pitino has built there. This actually makes the UK/UL game more exciting again with a new storyline.

 

There you go lumping 'most' Wildcat fans together. You can't stereotype all or most UK fans because of the comments of the vocal few. I have tons of UK fans for friends and very few are as arrogant as you paint 'most' UK fans. Don't let your disgust for UK fans blind you on this one. Go back and count the UK fans on this board alone and then count how many DIFFERENT ones have made those comments. Many are the same posters.

 

And to your last point, ... what is wrong with someone just being a UK fan? I see nothing wrong with having your fandom linked to one institution at all. I agree that some posters seem to believe that UK will start winning title after title after title now, ... but the majority of us know that ain't gonna happen. But there's really no need to lump all UK fans together in this way, ... why not just address those who make the outlandish comments instead of stereotyping us all together.
