March 30, 200917 yr Memphis coach John Calipari has let Kentucky officials know that he's interested in the school's vacant head coaching position, and he could talk with UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart as early as Monday, a source with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com on Sunday. Calipari to UK?
March 30, 200917 yr This actually may stick... the more and more you think analyze it. Con-USA is no challenge and can actually hurt his seeding come March cause Memphis is expected to dominate it. UK will probably double his salary....... better facilities and all in all a better coaching position.
March 30, 200917 yr There is two things Cal is looking for: 1. Money, Money, Moooooonnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! 2.The big spotlight! So, you add those up and what does that equal? "My Old Kentucky Home"
March 30, 200917 yr Its what I have been saying for the past week now especially to all those opposed to Calipari and to all those saying he would be stupid to leave Memphis for Kentucky. I mean sure hes got it going there but it is C-USA and that obviously hurt him in the long run this year and that is evident by getting beat out in the fashion they did the other night. Kentucky is one of the most prestigious jobs in college sports and Cal has the ego that wants to be one of the most prestigious coaches. Its the match he as well as Kentucky needs.
March 30, 200917 yr Memphis Commercial Appeal The poll there right now is 61% to 38% for Cal coming to UK. I'm sure they don't know any more than we do however.
March 30, 200917 yr The poll there right now is 61% to 38% for Cal coming to UK. I'm sure they don't know any more than we do however. And I'm pretty sure that that poll probably has a lot of absentee voters if you know what I mean.
March 30, 200917 yr I just can't help but think this will not be good for UK in the long run. Swinging for the fences sometimes results in a strikeout, but I'm hopeful.
March 30, 200917 yr I just can't help but think this will not be good for UK in the long run. I also have concerns. However, with Sandy Bell watching him like a hawk, I have a feeling that this might not be a bad thing. My picks would be: 1. Izzo 2. Wright 3. Calipari 4. Ford (he has turned around every program he has been at: Campbellsville, EKU, UMass Ok State) I left out Pitino because there is no way that happens. Too much pressure to repeat what he did before.
March 30, 200917 yr I just can't help but think this will not be good for UK in the long run. The man has never done anything wrong. What is the concern here? The trouble at UMASS had nothing to do with Cal, it was Marcus Camby taking money from an agent.
